KARL STORZ has continuously set 

standards in endoscopic imaging. 

On the basis of decades of experience 

with imaging technologies, we set 

another important milestone: the 

innovative KARL STORZ 3D system. 

KARL STORZ’s pioneering role in this 

technology is further underscored by 

the fact that the company is one of the 

founding members of the 3D Innovation 

Center, which was established in 2012 

and is based at the Fraunhofer Heinrich- 

Hertz Institute in Berlin. As a founding 

member, KARL STORZ has solidified 

its position as a leading manufacturer 

in endoscopic imaging and has paved 

the way for additional pioneering

KARL STORZ 3D technology features very good image quality and provides 

surgeons with excellent depth perception. In combination with exact spatial 

orientation, precise hand-eye coordination facilitates difficult endoscopic tasks, 

including suturing, knot tying, and preparation. The innovative and very light video 

endoscope 3D TIPCAM1 ® integrates the telescope and camera in a single unit and 

features intuitive operation. Optimized electronics, powerful camera technology, 

and cutting-edge 3D monitors with lightweight passive glasses support the 

physician even during long surgeries. 

The second generation of VITOM ® telescopes for visualization in minimal 

access open surgery 

The VITOM ® system offers an innovative and ergonomic way to visualize minimal 

access open procedures in FULL HD quality. The VITOM ® telescope is an 

exoscope, which – unlike an endoscope – is placed at a distance of 25-60 cm 

above the surgical field using a holding system rather than being introduced into 

the body. 

The first VITOM ® telescope was launched in 2010 and has been successfully used 

for surgeries in ENT, gynecology, urology as well as in cardiovascular, spine, 

plastic, and pediatric surgery. 

With the second generation, the range 

of VITOM ® telescopes is expanded by 

a 0° version and a 90° version. The 

new VITOM ® telescopes offer more 

choices to enable surgeons to select 

the best and most comfortable solution 

for each procedure. With its high depth 

of field, optimal enlargement, good 

contrast, and excellent color display, 

the VITOM ® system offers the ideal 

basis for the best possible display and 

documentation in FULL HD quality. The 

VITOM ® system is particularly suitable 

for education and training as well.

The next generation of the integrated OR – KARL STORZ OR1 FUSION 

With more than 3,000 OR1 systems installed worldwide, KARL STORZ is 

the leader in the field of integrated operating rooms. The OR1 enables the 

centralized, ergonomic control of endoscopic devices via touchscreen or speech 

control from within the sterile area and simultaneously offers an archiving system 

with numerous functionalities. Furthermore, the OR1 facilitates worldwide 

telemedical communication from the OR via audio and video transmissions. 

The new generation of the KARL STORZ 

OR1 FUSION is based on IP network 

technology and enables the digital 

transmission of video and audio data 

nearly without delay and without 

compression. Additional sources 

are integrated through the dynamic 

Plug&Play solution to ensure flexibility. 

Furthermore, the new generation only requires universal network cables, which 

further facilitates integration of the devices. With the IP network technology, 

KARL STORZ OR1 FUSION is perfectly ready for future developments in medical 

technology. 

When asked about the expectations for this year’s MEDICA, a KARL STORZ 

company representative reveals, “We rely on consistent top quality and our

With the innovative gesture control “MI Report online”, KARL STORZ became 

one of “365 Landmarks” in 2012. After earning the same distinction in 2009, 

KARL STORZ has now received this coveted award for outstanding product 

innovation for the second time. 

MI-Report online is an OR information 

system for intraoperative access to 

information in a variety of display forms 

and formats. The goal is touchless 

efficiency: With this pioneering system, 

surgeons can access, control, and 

modify patient-related data, X-ray and 

imaging findings, documents, and 

videos directly from the operating table 

using intuitive hand gestures. 

The dynamic spirit of the globally active company is particularly evident in its 

activities on international markets: The KARL STORZ strategy of providing 

intensive local customer care has been consistently continued in the past two 

years. In addition to establishing various subsidiaries in Europe (2010) and Asia 

(2012), the marketing office in Brazil plays a strategically important role for the 

company and its position on the South American market. 

In 2012, the Russian KARL STORZ subsidiary in Moscow celebrated the 

first birthday of its state-of-the-art showroom, which introduces the newest 

KARL STORZ technology to customers throughout Russia. The proven concept
