Based on the similarity of objectives, review of historical and demographic changes in seed testing, the task force has recommended consolidation. This recommendation is consistent with the opinion of Dr. Porter, AOSA president in 1940. He suggested that someday there would be an organization of both commercial and official analysts with a separation between official analysts and official control officials. Part of his suggestion was accomplished when the Association of American Seed Control Officials was established in 1949. Therefore; now is the time for the official and commercial seed analysts to consolidate.
What is the meaning of consolidation? It means “to join together into one whole-unite and strengthen” To me one of the values of us uniting is to strengthen our purpose as an association which is: The purpose of this association shall be to develop and implement standardized, scientifically based seed testing methods to meet the needs for industry management of seed quality and regulatory enforcement of seed labeling requirements. This purpose shall be obtained through cooperative efforts of its members by:
