presented at the April 2011 Commission public meeting, asbestos related risks
associated with OHV recreation in the Serpentine ACEC could be reduced below the
stringent EPA levels through management actions.
Additionally, the EPA study covered broad human health risk assessment issues
associated with asbestos inhalation. The RMP, based on the EPA study, makes very
specific management decisions (i.e. Allowing public non-motorized recreational
access 5 days/year in the ACEC, and elimination of all motorized recreation on the
single track trails in the ACEC).
The OHMVR Commission recommends adoption of RMP Alternative B, including
dust mitigation measures. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Paul Slavik, Chairman
