A $100 enrollment deposit<br />
is required when you accept<br />

Students are required <strong>to</strong> select an<br />
SF <strong>State</strong> e-mail account before<br />
they can complete the rest of their<br />
New Student Requirements. SF<br />
<strong>State</strong> uses this address <strong>to</strong> send you<br />
crucial e-mails and alert you <strong>to</strong><br />
key dates and deadlines while you<br />
are a student. Once you have set<br />
up your SF <strong>State</strong> e-mail, you can<br />
forward messages <strong>to</strong> a personal<br />
e-mail address if you choose.<br />
¨ Sign Up for English (EPT)<br />
and Mathematics (ELM)<br />
Placement Tests<br />
Check your test score status <strong>to</strong> see<br />
if you need <strong>to</strong> take the EPT and/or<br />
ELM test. SF <strong>State</strong> strongly urges all<br />
non-exempt students <strong>to</strong> test early, in<br />
February or March. Students who do<br />
not take the final test on or before<br />
May 4 will not be able <strong>to</strong> attend<br />
SF <strong>State</strong>. Be sure <strong>to</strong> list SF <strong>State</strong> as<br />
the campus <strong>to</strong> receive your scores.<br />
¨ Sign up for Early Start Math<br />
Course in Summer<br />
Students who score below 50<br />
on the ELM placement test<br />
are required <strong>to</strong> complete an<br />
Early Start summer course.<br />
¨ Sign Up for Directed Self<br />
Placement (DSP)<br />
Students who score 146 and<br />
below on the EPT are required <strong>to</strong><br />
participate in the SF <strong>State</strong> Directed<br />
Self Placement (DSP) online survey in<br />
the summer. DSP will also meet the<br />
Early Start requirement for English.<br />

CLASS REGISTRATION<br />
How do I register for classes?<br />
Freshmen receive early priority<br />
registration for all of their units on<br />
their orientation date. Transfer students<br />
receive early priority registration for<br />
a maximum of 8 units at orientation.<br />
The earlier you attend orientation, the<br />
better choice of classes you will have.<br />
How do transfers register<br />
for additional units?<br />
Transfers may add additional units<br />
during your Final Priority Registration<br />
time in August. View your registration<br />

ENROLLMENT DEPOSIT<br />
What is the enrollment deposit?<br />
Freshman and transfer students must<br />
pay a non-refundable enrollment<br />
deposit of $100 when they accept their<br />
admission offer. The deposit is required<br />
<strong>to</strong> reserve a space at SF <strong>State</strong>. The<br />
admission acceptance and enrollment<br />
deposit must be received by May 1.<br />
The deposit will offset a portion of your<br />
Tuition Fees for the first semester. This<br />
is a one-time payment required only<br />
during the first semester of admission.<br />
Can the enrollment deposit<br />
be waived?<br />
The enrollment confirmation deposit will<br />
be waived for students receiving state<br />
or federal need-based grants. <strong>You</strong>r New<br />

STUDENT ID CARD<br />
How do I get my student<br />
identification card?<br />
A student identification card (OneCard)<br />
can be issued <strong>to</strong> you once you have<br />
paid your Tuition Fees. The best time <strong>to</strong><br />
obtain the OneCard is at orientation.<br />
Cards are also available in the One<br />

What is Early Start?<br />
