<strong>Animal</strong> <strong>Encounters</strong><br />
Classroom Learning (Ages 5-12)<br />
This fun and meaningful classroom style presentation is great for<br />
young guests of kindergarten age all the way up to middle school.<br />
We have eight fun lesson plans to choose from and keepers will bring<br />
five animals appropriate to which plan is chosen. Most of the animals<br />
can be touched and photographed making it a great interactive and<br />
memorable experience!<br />
Hatchery Program<br />
Join us in our hatchery center and learn all about the incubation process<br />
of hatching chicks. There will be a chance to touch and feel the<br />
delicate chicks first hand and hear all about their interesting journey<br />
from egg to chicken!<br />

Meerkat Feeding & Enrichment<br />
This is a chance to feed some of the <strong>Zoo</strong>’s most iconic residents, the<br />
meerkats! We’ll be asking for volunteers to help our keepers feed<br />
mealworms to the meerkats through special feeding tubes. We’ll<br />
be telling you all about the history of these African mammals while<br />
keepers also teach the younger guests how to make enrichment toys<br />
for them to later play with!<br />
Creepy Crawly<br />
Here your guests can either join us in the Insect House or we can<br />
bring three of our creepy crawly friends to your event! Get up close<br />
and personal to anything from Mexican red kneed tarantulas and<br />
walking sticks to jungle nymphs and darkling beetles!<br />

Penguin Meet n’ Greet<br />
<strong>San</strong> <strong>Francisco</strong> <strong>Zoo</strong>’s penguin breeding and conservation program is<br />
considered one of the best in the country and thanks to our dedicated<br />
bird keepers, our South American residents are now ready to meet<br />
your guests! Keepers will bring one or two penguins to your event,<br />
where sitting quests can form a circle in order to closely watch how<br />
these aquatic birds interact with their new surroundings.<br />
Behind the Scenes<br />
This interesting ‘behind the scenes’ open house offers a rare perspective<br />
into how we care for and train our rescued or injured program<br />
animals. In 45 minutes our keepers will be able to show you five<br />
of our animals, ranging from Sierra our golden eagle to Miles our<br />
American alligator!<br />

Brand new!<br />
Alpaca Meet n’ Greet<br />
The nosey duo of Merlin and Gandalf love to get out and about to<br />
meet guests. Their keepers will personally introduce them while your<br />
guests get the opportunity to take photos and perhaps even feed<br />
them if it’s feeding time. These guys are perfect for mingling large<br />
outdoor parties and for greeting guests on arrival as that always important,<br />
first impression ‘wow’ factor!<br />
Giraffe Feeding<br />
Kristin, Bititi and Floyd are one of the most unique additions to an<br />
event that we can recommend! When you hand feed these African<br />
animals their favorite foods, you can really sense how appreciative<br />
they are through their beautiful big eyes and long eyelashes. The<br />
standard cost is $600 for up to 80 guests to feed, however during<br />
<strong>Zoo</strong> opening hours a small group may be eligible for a discount.<br />
Multiple <strong>Animal</strong> <strong>Encounters</strong><br />
<strong>Animal</strong> <strong>Encounters</strong> are by far the most popular animal event experience<br />
at <strong>San</strong> <strong>Francisco</strong> <strong>Zoo</strong>. You have the unique opportunity to ‘wow’<br />
your valued guests by having some of our passionate keepers visit your<br />
event with some of their exotic friends! Keepers will take their time<br />
to mingle around, telling the story of their animal, it’s habitat and our<br />
dedicated conservation efforts (which is what your <strong>Zoo</strong> event profits<br />
go towards!). Your guests will be able to get up close and personal with<br />
these animals and even get the chance to stroke some or take photos<br />
