Aunt Mel (Yankee Glide – Kimmie Hall – Striking Sahbra)
A bay filly, Aunt Mel sold for $95,000 at the Standardbred Horse Sale in Harrisburg, PA.
Owned by Mary Jane Anderson, Long Grove, IL.
Finished third in her elimination behind Check Me Out and For A
Dancer.
Trainer, Erv Miller: “She raced real good. I don’t know she might
have a little sickness, or something, going on because she I didn’t
think she quite finished like she could. I think if we draw decent we
have a big shot.”
Driver, David Miller: “I thought she raced good, you know we made
it back in, you know, happy about that, she raced very good. I was
hoping she would be a little stronger but she raced well.”
Won a division of the Review Stake at Springfield and an elimination
of the Peaceful Way at Mohawk (1:58); finished fourth in the final,
race timed 1:54.4.
Erv Miller, who grew up in an Amish household in Illinois, was named Trainer of the Year in 2005 by
the U.S. Harness Writers Association. His stable has won at least $5 million in seven consecutive
seasons. He has won five Breeders Crown titles since his first entrant in 2006, and is best known for
his work with Breeders Crown champions Loyal Opposition and Lis Mara. He also won the twi-yearold
colt trot Crown with Manofmanymissions last year.
David Miller ranks No. 5 among all drivers in the Breeders Crown, with $8.10 million in purses. He is
No. 6 in wins, with 12.
When David Miller crossed the finish line first with Panagler in the $36,500 Mares Winners Over
Pace on Oct. 17 at Harrah’s Chester, he made harness racing history. That victory, and the $18,250
credited to Miller’s 2011 purse totals, saw him reach $10 million in seasonal earnings for the 10th
time in his career, making him the first driver in history to accomplish that feat. He was previously
tied with John Campbell for the most $10 million seasons with nine.
This week he also became the 10th driver in North American harness racing history to reach 10,000
wins.
Check Me Out (Donato Hanover – Illusion Bi – Toss Out)

A bay filly, Check Me Out is trained and co-owned by Raymond W Schnittker, Middletown, New
York; and Charles Iannazzo, Tappan, NY.
Won her elimination in 1:55.4.

Trainer, Ray Schnittker: “This filly was real tough to break. It probably took three months to get
her going. We towed her for three months. After that she has been sound and wanting to go and
just a perfect horse. She went two vicious miles at Lexington. I think she probably could have
trotted in 1:52 if they were paying you for that. I think she had three
miles back-to-back-to-back in 1:53, so I have never seen a horse do
that yet. I chose post position four after speaking with Tim (Tetrick)
because he didn’t want to get caught or pinched down along the rail,
(which) sometimes (happens) here. Just as long as you don’t get the
nine or the ten, the rest of the posts are pretty good here.”
Driver, Tim Tetrick: “I was happy with the way it worked out. Early
there, I just wanted to get away clean and clear. There were a couple
of leavers there, so I got room and put David in the hole, and my mare
was nice and relaxed and would have done anything that I wanted. I
just went ahead and moved her back to the front. It is very important
to win your elimination to pick your post. You know she cruised the
rest of the way to the wire and was very strong at the wire.”
“She has been good every start, she just had some bad luck there. The one race where she got
beat in her elimination; she was not on her game (Peaceful Way elim). She still raced good, but
she was just not on her game, she has bounced back super every start since then, and I think that
she has gotten better and stronger every start since then.
“Oh she was very good. At the top of the lane, when I called on her, she just dropped her butt
about 6 inches and was gone. It is a great feeling when you talk to them and they just take off
and you are looking around to see how well you’re looking.”
Leading money-winning filly in this division ($527,007). 11 wins in 13 starts – all stake races.
North American co-season’s leader on a mile track (1:53.3). Refused a bye into the final.
Won the Merrie Annabelle final at The Meadowlands by 6 lengths in 1:54.2.

Trotted three miles in 1:53.4 or faster three weeks in a row winning the International Stallion
and Bluegrass at Lexington, and finishing second in the $455,940 Peaceful Way.
Check Me Out’s sire, Donato Hanover, won the 2006 Breeders Crown 2-year-old colt trot and was
the 2007 Harness Horse of the Year.
Circles (Majestic Son –Merles Image – Balanced Image)
A bay filly, Circles was bred by her owner, John Smith Racing Stable, Inc., Woodlawn, Ontario.
Received a bye into the final. 10 starts, 6 wins, 2 seconds ($298,200).
Multiple Ontario Sire Stakes Gold winner. Won
the Gold final at Mohawk in 1:57.
Trainer, John Smith: “I was impressed with this
filly in her last start. She went a tough trip and
hung on gamely. We hope to get a check in the
(Breeders Crown) final, the bigger the better.
She will definitely keep them honest, we’ll be
competitive. Around the barn she can be a little
tough, maybe a little crabby, but not bad. Just
not real friendly—Tough and racy.”
Circles sire, Majestic Son, won the 2006
Breeders Crown 3-year-old colt trot here at Woodbine.
For A Dancer (Conway Hall – Fluttering Wings – Yankee Glide)
A bay filly, For A Dancer sold for $27,000.
o Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.
Owned by Bluestone Farms LLC (Mitchel Skolnick), Hopewell, NJ
North American season’s leader on a half-mile track
o (Yonkers, 1:59.2h)
She has won every race she has been entered in this year, with
the exception of her Breeders Crown elimination race where she finished
second to Check Me Out.
$175,000 New York Sire Stakes final champion.
Trainer, Joe Holloway: “The race went good, they raced well.
They trotted home real strong, even better than the colts! My filly, she’s
been good, that’s the first time we’ve lost. Jeff did a great job. He’s
driven her all year so he’s done a great job with her and he deserves to drive her in the breeders
crown final.”

Driver, Jeff Gregory: “The filly was great, she raced great. I got a good trip behind the horse that
won the race; she was just a little bit too much for us, that’s all. I wouldn’t trade her for anybody,
she’s a nice horse. She was just in with one that is a little tougher than her tonight. It would be
nice to draw somewhere where she did, like right in the middle of the pack. It seems like a good
spot to lead from and she gets out of the gate real well so hopefully we can get another good trip
like that and pick up some money in the final.”
Lima Playmate (Credit Winner – Pacific Legacy – Andover Hall)

A black filly, Lima Playmate was a $70,000 yearling purchase at the
Lexington Select Sale.
Owned by Ray Schnittker and the Lima Playmate Stable (Paul
Bordogna, Ted Gewertz, Jonathan Kurnit, David Pepin, & Ray
Schnittker), Middletown, NY
Winner of eight New York Sire Stakes, the fastest in 1:57 at Vernon.
Part of the powerful Schnittker Stable trio, Ray offered these
remarks: “She is a real good filly. She got her wheel hooked around
the last turn and couldn’t go anywhere. Her hopples were a little
tight to Jimmy’s new bike (UFO) so that didn’t help either. Jimmy (Morrill) said she had plenty of
trot. She has been good all year and should be very good in the final.”

Miss Paris (Kadabra – Pizza Dolce – Conway Hall)
A brown filly, Miss Paris sold for $210,000 at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale
Owned by Melvin Hartman, Ottawa, Ontario; Herb Liverman, Miami Beach, Florida; and David
McDuffee, Delray Beach, Florida.
Captured Ontario Sire Stakes Gold Finals at Woodbine (1:56.1) and Rideau Carleton.
Finished third in the $455,940 Peaceful Way at Mohawk in 1:54.4
12 starts, 6 wins, 2 seconds ($285,233).
Driver, Scott Zeron: “She has been a great filly all year. The
greatest asset she has is that she is such a sweetheart to drive. She
does anything you want … she can leave; she can come off the pace.
Today she just got a little bumpy in the last turn so I just took my time.
I waited until we got out of the turn, I just spoke to her down the lane
and she was full of trot. I went across the wire with lots of horse left.
I am looking forward to next week.
Trainer, Richard “Nifty” Norman: “Raced good, finished up
strong. I was happy with the run and I am excited to be in the final
although it looks like we will be racing for second.”

Trainer Nifty Norman won the 2009 Breeders Crown 2-year-old filly trot with Poof She’s Gone,
right here at Woodbine Racetrack.
Real Babe (Donato Hanover –Housethatruthbuilt – Muscles Yankee)

A bay filly, Real Babe sold for $100,000 at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.
Owned by Ray Schnittker and the Real Babe Stable (Steve Arnold, Ted Gewertz, Charles Iannazzo,
Jonathan Kurnit, Ray Schnittker, and Jerry Silva), Middletown, New York.
Multiple stakes winning filly from a family of Breeders Crown
champions:
o Sire: Donato Hanover, won the 2006 Breeders Crown 2-yearold
colt trot and was the 2007 Harness Horse of the Year.
o Dam: Housethatruthbuilt, who set the 1:53.3 track and stakes
record here at Woodbine winning the 2004 BC 3-year-old filly trot.
o Sire of the Dam: Muscles Yankee, winner of 1998 BC 3-year-old
colt trot.
Trainer/Driver, Ray Schnittker: “In the elimination she had the 10 hole,
which forced her to make up a lot of ground. This is a nice filly, she has just
had a few problems. She got hung up on a fence, she got sick, little things that
took time. She has a good move. Now she has a better post and should get
some live cover in the final.”
Talbotcreek Jewely (Muscles Yankee – Gaelic - Augus Hall)

A brown filly, Talbotcreek Jewely sold for $17,000 at the
Harrisburg.
Owned by P C Wellwood Enterprises Inc, Cambridge, & Karen E
Carroll, Shedden, Ontario.
Bred by Karen E Carroll, Shedden, Ontario.
Winner of $51,000 Peaceful Way consolation at Mohawk in 1:58.1.
Trainer, Mike Keeling: “This filly is heading in the right direction.
Paul McDonnell was very excited about her and said that she was
awesome in her last start before the Breeders Crown elimination.
She didn’t race the way we expected in the elims., she was a little
flat. We checked her blood the following day and she had a high
white blood cell count. We are treating her with antibiotics. This
is a nice filly who will be a good horse someday. We are taking a
shot with her.”
Uncommon Night (Donato Hanover – Uncommon Scents – Valley Victor)

A bay filly, Uncommon Night sold for $22,000 at Lexington.
Owned by Cowboyland Aalborg (Dewayne Minor), Highland
Park, Michigan.
Finished second to Check Me Out in the International Stallion
Stake at Lexington, race timed in 1:55.
Trainer, Dewayne Minor: “She is a nice filly. She has been
coming along easy. I have been driving her. I thought we had a good
shot of making some money in the Breeders Crown. In her last start
down in Lexington she earned her way, so here we are. We didn’t
have good luck tonight, but I think we can do better in the final.”
Regarding her disposition: “She is a snazzy filly. She is the kind of filly that does not take any
crap. You can reprimand her but you do not want to go too far. You have got to have that kind of
bite for a filly, especially fillies. If they don’t have that fight, they don’t make good racehorses.”
Win Missy B (Conway Hall – Winning Missbrenda – American Winner)

A bay filly, Win Missy B was bred by her owner, Robert J. Key, Leechburg, Pennsylvania.
