A theme is a message or moral in a story.

The author O.Henry has twists at the end of
his stories.You might think you know the
theme and then a shocking ending will come
and change it. O.Henry mostly writes stories
about criminals and detectives and things are
mysterious.

How might the title affect theme?
A retrieved reformation. This story is not
considered a childrens book. From the title
you might expect the story to be about a
criminal that wants to fix something he did.

How can the setting affect theme?
The setting affects theme because in A
retrieved reformation The setting took place
in a small town and its harder to catch
criminals in small towns than it s in cites. It
would have been different if it was somwhere
else like a bigger city.

Can the main character affect
theme?
The main character in this story can affect the
theme because He changed a lot he went from
being a cold hearted criminal to an honest
criminal. He changed. That affects it because
if he didn't then the theme might have
changed because of how he acted.

How might the plot specifically the
climax affect theme?
The character Jimmy Valentine chose to open
the safe and let the girl out even though he
was trying to stop breaking safes open.It
changes the theme a lot because if he didn't
his finace might have had second thoughts on
getting married because of his personality.
