Tyre Pressure Monitor<strong>in</strong>g System (TPMS)
The fuel economy of any vehicle is ma<strong>in</strong>ly depends on the <strong>in</strong>flation pressure
ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong>side the tyres. If less, it could significantly <strong>in</strong>crease the fuel
consumption & CO2 emission. The TPMS warns driver of low <strong>in</strong>flation so that he can
<strong>in</strong>flate tyres at appropriate time.
A TPMS is an electronic system designed
to monitor the air pressure <strong>in</strong>side all the
pneumatic tyres on automobiles.
These systems report real time tyre
pressure <strong>in</strong>formation to the driver of the
vehicle either via a gauge, a pictogram
display, or a simple low pressure
warn<strong>in</strong>g light.
The communication <strong>in</strong>terface is either by direct physical sensors operated with
battery or through <strong>in</strong>direct sensors by monitor<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>dividual wheel rotational speeds,
and other signals available outside the tire itself.
