GROWING NUMBER OF INDIAN STUDENTS NOW HEADING TO FRANCE
Last year, 3,000 students went to France for higher education in France. As much as 75%
are in the field of management and other 30% engineering, design, architecture etc. India’s
increased interest in French institutions can also be traced to the cost factor. In France, even
private institutions are heavily subsidized. And the embassy offers a range of scholarships. On
average, tuition fees amount to about Rs 10 lakh per annum.
IT’S DESTINATION EUROPE FOR HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION AT LOW COST
Europe is no longer just a holiday destination for Indians. With universities offering quality
education at 70% of what it would cost to study in the US and the UK, middle-class students
are opting for European institutions. Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, Latvia and Sweden
are among the preferred destinations since most universities are government-funded and
scholarships are aplenty. Students only have to cover living expenses.
TIE-UPS BRING INTERNATIONAL DEGREES WITHIN MIDDLE-CLASS REACH
Pursuing higher education overseas used to cut into a family’s savings, but not anymore.
Not only are countries offering more scholarships, educational institutions are entering into
innovative arrangements with their foreign counterparts to make a foreign degree more
affordable. Indian colleges are tying up with universities and colleges overseas to make even
undergraduate courses affordable for students.
IIM-A 4TH IN THE ECONOMIST’S GOOD-VALUE B-SCHOOLS
The Economist has ranked India’s premier B school, Indian Institute of Management
Ahmedabad, fourth among 20 leading schools globally in terms of return on investment for
its students. In its latest issue dated May 10, the newspaper ranks HEC Paris as the B school
which offers the best returns of 67 per cent after one year, post an MBA. There are more than
30 students going for an exchange program every year from IIM-A to France.
NEW STUDENT VISA RULE
Changes in visa rules last year have also made France more attractive. “Visa regulations now
allow students will get 1 year stay back visa to find out to work in same field after completing
the programme. If you hold a Master’s, PhD or PG degree from a French institution, get a 5
year visa circulation to France and the Schengen Area, When you next travel to France
