of action. He fired in a career-high 27<br />

points in GCC’s come-from-behind 76-<br />

74 win at Geneva Wednesday, then<br />

bucketed 26 markers and tied a Grove<br />

City single-game school record with six<br />

three-pointers in an 80-78 home decision<br />

vs. Westminster. For the week,<br />

Marmelstein shot 58 percent (18-of-31)<br />

from the field, including 59 percent (10-<br />

PAC LOGJAM: With two weeks to play, the<br />

race at the top of the PAC men’s basketball<br />

standings has tightened significantly ... PAC<br />

leader Thiel suffered its first conference losses<br />

of the season and now leads Bethany by just<br />

a half-game for first, with Saint Vincent and<br />

Thomas More also within striking distance of<br />

first place ... The Tomcats host the Bison in a<br />

key PAC matchup in Greenville Saturday that<br />

could determine the top seed for the 2012 PAC<br />

Men’s Basketball Tournament.<br />

last week … The Bison shot only 33 percent in<br />

the second half, while Thomas More hit 57 percent<br />

in a 68-57 Saints’ win … Nick Wilcox had<br />

15 points and Brady Pacific scored 11 in the<br />

defeat … Wilcox and Pacific also highlighted<br />

the big win over W&J … With nine points,<br />

Wilcox became the 23 rd men’s player in BC<br />

history to go over 1,000 … He also set a new<br />

school record for career steals (199) and became<br />

just the 2 nd player in Bison history to go<br />

over 1,000 points (1,005), 500 rebounds (514)<br />

and 200 assists (201) in his career ... Meanwhile,<br />

Pacific went 6-for-9 from the arc and<br />

scored a career-high 28 points in the victory.<br />

against Grove City Wednesday night ... Knocking<br />

down eight of their first 10 three-point attempts,<br />

the Golden Tornadoes opened up a<br />

12-point halftime lead ... The Wolverines fought<br />

back in the second half and managed to take a<br />

76-74 decision, handing Geneva its seventh<br />

loss on the last nine games ... Wednesday’s<br />

match-up with Grove City was Geneva’s only<br />

game of the week and it dropped its overall<br />

record to 5-15, including a 4-8 mark in the<br />

PAC ... The Golden Tornadoes are currently<br />

in sole possession of sixth place in the PAC<br />

standings.<br />

Grove City pulled out a pair of<br />

two-point wins against its oldest<br />

rivals last week … Wednesday, the Wolverines<br />

rallied from 12 points down for a 76-74<br />

win at Geneva … Senior G Brett Matson went<br />

over the 1,000-point mark in the win, becoming<br />

the program’s 25 th all-time 1,000-point man<br />

… Freshman Mitch Marmelstein fired in a<br />

career-high 27 points and senior C Kris<br />

Verderber also posted a new career-high with<br />

23 points … Saturday, the Wolverines nipped<br />

Westminster, 80-78, on Hall of Fame Day in<br />

the GCC Arena … Marmelstein (26) and<br />

Matson (20) paced the Wolverines in scoring<br />

… Marmelstein’s six three-point goals tied the<br />

school’s single-record … Verderber added 10<br />

the game, SVC held a 10-rebound advantage,<br />

of PAC games last week ... Wednesday, freshman<br />

Ben Donlow paced WC with his fourth<br />

career double-double with game-highs of 22<br />

points and 11 rebounds in the Titans’ 73-60<br />

... Westminster never trailed after taking a 33-<br />

29 halftime lead ... Saturday, the PAC Men’s<br />
