Marmelstein led the Wolverines to a 2-0
week against Grove City’s main PAC rivals,
averaging 26.5 points, 3.5 rebounds
and 2.5 assists per game while
committing no turnovers in 63 minutes
of action. He fired in a career-high 27
points in GCC’s come-from-behind 76-
74 win at Geneva Wednesday, then
bucketed 26 markers and tied a Grove
City single-game school record with six
three-pointers in an 80-78 home decision
vs. Westminster. For the week,
Marmelstein shot 58 percent (18-of-31)
from the field, including 59 percent (10-
of-17) from three-point range.
Also nominated was junior F Brady Pacific
of Bethany, sophomore G Isaac Turner of
Saint Vincent, junior F Blair Rozenblad of
Thiel, senior C Colt Stafford of Thomas
More, junior F Aaron Cromwell of
Waynesburg, and freshman G Ben Donlow
of Westminster.
PAC MEN’S BASKETBALL 2011-12 - Week 11 Conference Notes
PAC LOGJAM: With two weeks to play, the
race at the top of the PAC men’s basketball
standings has tightened significantly ... PAC
leader Thiel suffered its first conference losses
of the season and now leads Bethany by just
a half-game for first, with Saint Vincent and
Thomas More also within striking distance of
first place ... The Tomcats host the Bison in a
key PAC matchup in Greenville Saturday that
could determine the top seed for the 2012 PAC
Men’s Basketball Tournament.
NEWS & NOTES: Senior C Colt Stafford averaged
19.5 ppg in Thomas More upsets of league
leaders Bethany and Thiel ... Thiel junior G Blair
Rozenblad led the 0-2 Tomcats by averaging
23.0 points and 16.0 rebounds per game ... Senior
G Brett Matson of Grove City and junior F
Nick Wilcox of Bethany each surpassed the
career 1,000-point barrier this week ... Matson
surpassed the mark Wednesday in a road victory
at Geneva, while Wilcox hit the plateau Saturday
in a win over Washington & Jefferson.

Bethany rebounded from
a tough loss at Thomas
More to cruise past W&J
last week … The Bison shot only 33 percent in
the second half, while Thomas More hit 57 percent
in a 68-57 Saints’ win … Nick Wilcox had
15 points and Brady Pacific scored 11 in the
defeat … Wilcox and Pacific also highlighted
the big win over W&J … With nine points,
Wilcox became the 23 rd men’s player in BC
history to go over 1,000 … He also set a new
school record for career steals (199) and became
just the 2 nd player in Bison history to go
over 1,000 points (1,005), 500 rebounds (514)
and 200 assists (201) in his career ... Meanwhile,
Pacific went 6-for-9 from the arc and
scored a career-high 28 points in the victory.
The Geneva men’s basketball
team could do no
wrong in the first half
against Grove City Wednesday night ... Knocking
down eight of their first 10 three-point attempts,
the Golden Tornadoes opened up a
12-point halftime lead ... The Wolverines fought
back in the second half and managed to take a
76-74 decision, handing Geneva its seventh
loss on the last nine games ... Wednesday’s
match-up with Grove City was Geneva’s only
game of the week and it dropped its overall
record to 5-15, including a 4-8 mark in the
PAC ... The Golden Tornadoes are currently
in sole possession of sixth place in the PAC
standings.
Grove City pulled out a pair of
two-point wins against its oldest
rivals last week … Wednesday, the Wolverines
rallied from 12 points down for a 76-74
win at Geneva … Senior G Brett Matson went
over the 1,000-point mark in the win, becoming
the program’s 25 th all-time 1,000-point man
… Freshman Mitch Marmelstein fired in a
career-high 27 points and senior C Kris
Verderber also posted a new career-high with
23 points … Saturday, the Wolverines nipped
Westminster, 80-78, on Hall of Fame Day in
the GCC Arena … Marmelstein (26) and
Matson (20) paced the Wolverines in scoring
… Marmelstein’s six three-point goals tied the
school’s single-record … Verderber added 10
points … Guards Christian Durbin and J.T.
Schwartz both had six assists … The win
completed a season sweep of Westminster.

The Bearcats ended Thiel’s
unbeaten PAC season with a
78-64 win over the Tomcats on Wednesday ...
Five players scored in double figures for SVC,
led by sophomore G Isaac Turner’s seasonhigh
19 points ... Junior G Chris Klimchock
added 15 points, six rebounds and six assists
while senior G Tauvon Pettiford also added
15 points, with nine rebounds ... Senior G Dennis
Bassich and sophomore F Dillon Stith
added 12 and 11 points, respectively ... For
the game, SVC held a 10-rebound advantage,
46-36 ... In the 77-55 win over Waynesburg on
Saturday, Bassich led all scorers with 21 points
off the bench while Turner added 16 points (15
in the first half).

After winning seven straight
contests, the Tomcats
were defeated twice last week, falling at Saint
Vincent 78-64, and then again at Thomas More
73-63 ... In the first contest, the Tomcats were
led by senior G Devon Adams who notched
18 points, and G/F Blair Rozenblad who
notched a double-double with 18 points and 13
rebounds … In the second contest, Thiel was
once again led by Rozenblad, who had a great
game scoring 28 points and grabbing 17 boards
in the losing effort

… Senior C Colt Stafford led three Saints in
double-figure scoring as he averaged 19.5
points per game … Joining him in double-figure
scoring was senior PG Daniel Whelan
with 13.0 ppg., and junior SF Phil Feinberg
with 10.5 ppg. … Feinberg led the team on the
glass with 8.5 rebounds per game, while freshman
SG Drew Mumford led the team in assists
with seven and Whelan led team in assists
with four … For the season, Feinberg
leads the team in scoring and rebounding as
he averages 14.2 ppg., and 8.0 rpg ... Through
22 games, the Saint have a +6.5 scoring margin
as they average 76.0 points per game and
hold the opposition to 69.4 points per game.

Washington & Jefferson has
lost a season-high six-straight
games after falling in a pair of
PAC road contests to Westminster (73-60) and
Bethany (81-49) last week … The Presidents
will be looking to avoid their first seven-game
losing skid since dropping its first seven games
of the 2006-07 season … Freshman G Andy
Carter paced the team with 13 points against
the Titans … Freshman Mitch Locher contributed
11 points and eight rebounds, while
leading-scorer Zach Bellhy netted 10 points
… Bellhy rebounded to score 23 points against
Bethany, the lone President to reach double
figures … W&J shot nearly 45 percent (21-47)
from the field, but was hurt by 23 turnovers
The Waynesburg University
men’s basketball team hosted Saint Vincent
this past Saturday and came out on the short
end of a 77-55 score with the Bearcats ... Junior
F Aaron Cromwell led all Yellow Jacket
players with 10 points and six rebounds.
Westminster split a pair
of PAC games last week ... Wednesday, freshman
Ben Donlow paced WC with his fourth
career double-double with game-highs of 22
points and 11 rebounds in the Titans’ 73-60
win over PAC foe Washington and Jefferson
... Westminster never trailed after taking a 33-
29 halftime lead ... Saturday, the PAC Men’s
Basketball Game of the Week featuring the
Titans at Grove City lived up to the hype, as
the Wolverines won 80-78 in an exciting finish
... After a Grove City missed free throw with
five seconds left in the game, Westminster was
unable to connect on a potential game-winning
three-pointer ... Donlow recorded another
double-double, scoring 24 points (9-of-15 from
the field), including career-highs of four threepointers
and 15 rebounds.

60.0 percent shooting from the field and four
