Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha
Established in 1956, it is a premier
institution in the field of higher learning
in Sanskrit studies. It is funded by the
Ministry of HRD through the UGC. It was
declared as a Deemed University by the
Govt.of India in 1987.
Besides imparting education in
Traditional Shastras, it also runs courses in
pedagogy and other career oriented
Programmes. Modern subjects like
Mathematics, Computer science, History
and Literatures also form components of
the various courses.
The Vidyapeetha has achieved a
rare honour of being recognised as a Centre
of Excellence in Traditional Shastras by the
UGC basing on its achievements , academic
excellence earned in the field of teaching
and research in Traditional Shastras and its
potential for future development.
Theme of the Seminar
“English and Sanskrit: An Interface”
The faculty members in the Dept. of
English are involved in the teaching of
English to students who pursue the study of
various Shastras including Sanskrit literature.
This evidently speaks for the interdisciplinary
theme chosen. It provides for a study of the
literatures of Sanskrit and English.
The following areas may be dwelt
upon for the presentation of Papers:
1. Creative use of Indian myth, philosophy,
etc. in Indian Writing in English and
Western literature
2. Bringing to light any comparable texts or
concepts in English and Sanskrit literature.
3. Attempting a comparative study of the
Aesthetics.
The papers presented in the seminar
will be taken up for publication. Hence
delegates are requested to send either a hard
or soft copy of the paper.
Note:
1. No registration fee is required.
2. Accommodation will be provided.
3. TA will be paid on the production
of a ticket (II/III AC).
