The DSDA iSCSI series represent the second generation of<br />

<strong>Bosch</strong> <strong>Digital</strong> Video Disk Arrays and are designed for the<br />

security industries most demanding digital <strong>video</strong> storage<br />

applications to manage the relentlessly growing digital<br />

<strong>video</strong> data.<br />

Functions<br />

The <strong>DSA</strong>‐<strong>N2B20</strong> is the co-branded FAS Series FAS 2020<br />

from NetApp which provides a scale-out network storage<br />

solution that provides security, high “in-the-box”<br />

scalability, peace-of-mind data protection, and simplified<br />

management of all your <strong>video</strong> data. NetApp’s FAS Series<br />

are based on a 15‐year enterprise proven and well tested<br />

OS—Data ONTAP. NetApp pioneered the iSCSI protocol<br />

years ago and remains the market leader.<br />

Designed as a scale-out system, the <strong>DSA</strong>‐<strong>N2B20</strong> allows<br />

connecting up to four disk shelf expansion units to one<br />

base unit. The base unit provides a maximum of 12 x 1 TB<br />

SATA‐II hard disk drives and each disk shelf expansion<br />

unit will provide a maximum of 14 x 1 TB hard disk drives.<br />

The <strong>DSA</strong>‐<strong>N2B20</strong> is a fully featured RAID protected disk<br />

array which provides RAID‐4 protection for capacityoriented<br />

environments and RAID‐DP protection for<br />

availability oriented environments. RAID‐DP (Double<br />

Parity) is a form of RAID‐6 without any performance<br />

penalty. RAID-DP is strongly re<strong>com</strong>mended if the system<br />

will be used with disk shelf expansion units.<br />

High Reliability and Availability<br />

With redundant hot-swap power and cooling, dual Gigabit<br />

Ethernet ports, NVRAM, and protection from double-disk<br />

failure and single bit errors during RAID rebuilds with<br />

RAID‐DP, the <strong>DSA</strong>‐<strong>N2B20</strong> keeps your data safe and<br />

available.<br />

Monitoring<br />

Full SNMP support with agents <strong>com</strong>patible with SNMP<br />

version 1 as well as MIB‐II and NetApp custom MIBs<br />

supported. In case of <strong>com</strong>ponent failures SNMP, e-mails<br />

(Autosupport Mails) or HTTP (HTTPS) messages will be<br />

generated.<br />

Features<br />

The intelligent <strong>com</strong>bination of battery backed up<br />

nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM), the NetApp RAID‐DP<br />

technology and the Write Anywhere File Layout (WAFL) all<br />

contribute to data reliability and recoverability and<br />

provide superior system performance.<br />

The RAID‐4 or the RAID‐DP protection allows for capacity<br />

expansion on the fly, with no RAID rebuilt or interruption<br />

to users. This is getting more and more important as HDD<br />

capacities are getting bigger and bigger.<br />

Business Day Parts Delivery warranty and with a 3 years<br />

software warranty.<br />

Installation/Configuration Notes<br />

Central management is provided by a Web GUI<br />

administration tool. There is no additional software<br />

necessary to be installed on peripheral devices.<br />

In addition the system provides a powerful Command Line<br />

Interface (CLI) which is fully remote accessible either by<br />

telnet, ssh or rsh. The co-branded <strong>Bosch</strong> NetApp<br />

<strong>DSA</strong>‐<strong>N2B20</strong> <strong>com</strong>es with the Data ONTAP 7.3.1P1D9 OS<br />

version.<br />

The <strong>DSA</strong>‐<strong>N2B20</strong> provides a maximum bandwidth of<br />

250 Mbps with a maximum of 128 concurrent iSCSI<br />

connections.<br />
