Monumental Legacy
A Living Heritage
Hyderabad is a city so vivid and vibrant, the more you see
of it, the more mysteries open up. Come explore this land
of timeless beauty. Charminar is the most magnificent
architectural monument, standing in the heart of the old
city of Hyderabad, built by Muhhammad Quli Qutb Shah,
founder of Hyderbad in 1591. Most of the fabled bazaars
of Hyderabad are located here. The city's pearl trade also
originates here. Golconda was one of India's most
famous Forts, the capital of the Qutb Shahis from 1518-
1687. The fortress is famous for its acoustics, palaces and
ingenious water supply system. A sound and light show
held daily takes visitors into Golconda's exciting past.
The Qutub Shahi Tombs, the oldest historical monuments
in Hyderabad where an entire dynasty is laid to rest,
reflecting the architectural splendor of the erstwhile kingdom,
are worth a visit. The Salarjung Museum is the
largest one-man collection of artifacts and antiques from
around the world and houses rare and surprisingly unique
items. Revived recently and an enthralling place to visit is
the princely abode of Chowmohalla Palace, which is
now open to the public, where elite weekend cultural
extravaganzas will enrapture your senses.
