Using the very latest developments
in drop-on-demand piezo
inkjet technology, Mutoh's Toucan
series printers consists of three
models : Toucan 64" - 4 colours
(1626 mm), Toucan 64" - 6 colours
(1626 mm) and Toucan 87" - 6
colours (2210 mm).
The Toucan 64" - 4 colour
machine is equipped with four
colour channels (C, M, Y, K) and
offers a maximum print width of
1600 mm. Top printing speed is
65 m² per hour. Both Toucan 6colour
printers offer four/six colour
channels (C, M, Y, K, Lc, Lm). The
Toucan 64" - 6 colour printer
offers a maximum print width of
1575 mm and has a top printing
speed of 65 m² per hour. The
Toucan 87" 6 colour printer offers
a maximum print width of 2159
mm and has a top printing speed
of 70,2 m² per hour.

Thanks to the use of extremely durable and reliable
piezo-electric drop-on-demand inkjet heads and
specifically developed high-quality double-density
solvent-based inks, Toucan printers create signage
for long-term outdoor application.
The Mutoh Toucan solvent-based double-density
inks allow users to print directly onto a wide variety
of low-cost uncoated materials, such as scrim vinyl,
PVC adhesive film, banner, backlit, backed mesh,
etc…
Because Toucan inks are waterproof and highly
abrasion and UV-resistant, printed images can last
outdoors for up to five years, without lamination…
even on inexpensive, uncoated materials. Inks are
moreover supplied in bulk ink tanks, which are
refillable on the fly and contain two liters per
colour, allowing large autonomy and unattended
printing.
Setting the pace for reliable performance, the
NX-Pro Toucan utilises the latest developments
from Mutoh in motion control and media handling.
All Toucan printers include standard a 100 Base -
TX Ethernet card for full network connectivity,
digitally-controlled heating elements for drying, a
20.3 Gb hard disk and an automated motorised
roll-off / roll-up system for heavy media.

test/approval program, developed in close cooperation with all leading
media manufacturers. In this test program, a variety of uncoated
media is being extensively tested on Toucan for adhesive force, shrink
behaviour, scratch resistance, ink-media adhesion and UV-stability.

OPERATION EASE GUARANTEED
In no time, your Toucan printer is ready to create top quality graphics
that will make a lasting impression. Just power on the unit, remove the
head cover, wipe the heads and you are ready for printing. No special
cleaning cycles are involved. Shutting down the printer is done in a
minute. Ink can even stay overnight in the print heads without any
problem. The Toucan's convenient keyboard with integrated LCD display
will keep you posted with all you need to know. Unattended
printing is made possible thanks to the large 2000 ml ink tanks refillable
on the fly and the Toucan's automated roll-to-roll take-up system.

ADVANCED PIEZO INKJET TECHNOLOGY
Mutoh Toucan printers incorporate a set
of extremely durable and reliable
piezo-electric drop-on-demand inkjet
heads, specifically developed for high
volume printing.
Piezo inkjet technology uses a piezo crystal
at the back of the ink reservoir. Whenever
a dot is required, a voltage is applied to the
piezo element, the element flexes and in
doing so, forces a drop of ink out of the
nozzle.
The piezo technology uses tiny crystal
pumps to control each ink droplet with
absolute precision, producing more
spherical dots and less satellite-droplets.
There are several advantages to the piezo
method. The process allows more control
over the shape and size of ink droplet
release. The tiny fluctuations in the crystal
allow for smaller droplet sizes and higher
firing frequencies. Also, unlike with thermal
technology, the ink does not have to be
heated and cooled between each cycle. This
saves time, and the ink itself is tailored
more for its absorption properties than its
ability to withstand high temperatures.
