Worsley, where the lifestyle is!
Well, let’s start by wishing everyone a happy and safe Christmas, a time to enjoy
with family and friends.
Over to Worsley, the lifestyle job. Just remember with a
push on to finish the job, what they told you about the job
‘Lifestyle’!!! Enjoy your 9 day fortnight by having your
RDOs.
Betchel… ‘Where the bloody hell are you’? Never there to
meet with unions about issues and safety, must be hiding
something or hiding behind CCI. Have some nuts come
out and talk. SDR, J.H, Mono’s are all looking for more
workers in the new year to complete jobs by August 10
maybe August 11?
Over to the Power Station at Worsley. AEE maybe they
learnt their lesson last Christmas by stating they are
shutting down for the break instead of ordering workers to
work. They are also trying to restore their relationship with
the workforce, instead of being a pack of assholes, off to
court with interpretation of accruals of RDOs, annual
leave and public holidays.
At Boddington and Desal, I encourage all workers to
attend meetings at the allocated areas they give us. If
more numbers come maybe they will change back to the
sheds. LOR and Downers are looking for more workers in
the new year.
At the Desal maybe Downers should talk to their
workforce about moving RDOs from Friday to Monday.
S.S.W.A. should start walking the job more, looking for
safety and other problems. For example, tilt up panels,
soft slings, open penetrations, etc, before someone gets
hurt. They have been lucky to date, with a lot of near
misses. Remember: Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
Kemerton Silicon Plant moving slowly with Cimeco there.
Urea plant due to start early in 2011. Still no word on
Bluewater 3+4, more next year.
Wouldn’t you rather enjoy your RDO?
Just remember bosses didn’t give you your pay increases,
good amenities, clothes, site money, leave loading, public
holiday pay. These conditions have been fought and won
by unions and members over a long time. I encourage all
members to advocate non-members about the benefits of
being a member so the fight can go on for more and
better benefits.
On a finishing note, I am looking forward to next year. Be
safe. Workers united will never be defeated. Workers stick
together win together.
