Rock4Xmas is coming to town<br />
For the 13th year, Rock 4 XMAS will bring<br />
together greats of the rock-<strong>and</strong>-roll world<br />
<strong>and</strong> hit the stage to raise money to benefit<br />
the less fortunate. Started in 1996, the Rock 4<br />
XMAS Foundation brings food, gifts <strong>and</strong> the<br />
holiday spirit to less fortunate families<br />
through donations <strong>and</strong><br />
benefit events. In addition<br />
to collecting donations,<br />
the foundation<br />
also is directly involved<br />
in the distribution.<br />
This year’s shows are<br />
once again headlined by<br />
the legendary Eddie<br />
Money, <strong>and</strong> will feature<br />
performances by Ernie<br />
<strong>and</strong> the Automatics<br />
(Ernie Boch Jr. with original “Boston” members<br />
Barry Goudreau <strong>and</strong> Sib Hashian), Joey<br />
Moll<strong>and</strong> of Badfinger, Kelly Keeling formerly<br />
of Blue Murder <strong>and</strong> Trans-Siberian<br />
Orchestra, Terry ILous of XYZ, <strong>and</strong> our own<br />
local singer/songwriter Papa Joe DeMaio.<br />
Serving as MC for the shows will be Butch<br />
Patrick, best known as Eddie from the classic<br />
television show, “The Munsters.”<br />
The tour is set to begin on Dec. 4 at the<br />
Seaport Inn <strong>and</strong> Marina in Fairhaven,<br />
Massachusetts, with shows along the way in<br />
Hyannis, Long Isl<strong>and</strong>, N.Y., Somerville <strong>and</strong><br />
other locations, before wrapping up in<br />
Papa Joe DeMaio<br />
Uncasville, Conn. at the Mohegan Sun<br />
Casino on Dec. 14.<br />

annual Christmas Show<br />
SPENCER — The Heart to Heart<br />
Foundation’s Christmas Show to benefit<br />
cancer patients will be held from 1-4:30<br />
p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6 at David Prouty High<br />
School.<br />
Featured will be former State Police<br />
Sgt. Daniel M. Clark, known as “The<br />
Singing Trooper,” who has performed in<br />
uniform while representing the<br />
Commonwealth of Massachusetts since<br />
his entrance into the State Police<br />
Academy in 1985. During this tenure he<br />
performed at more than 2,500 events for<br />
federal, state, local <strong>and</strong> military functions,<br />
in addition to 23 foreign national<br />
anthems, in native dialect, for visiting<br />
dignitaries <strong>and</strong> sporting events.<br />
Also performing will be Charlie Lask as<br />
Neil Diamond, Donna Lee as Patsy Cline,<br />
the Korn Kob B<strong>and</strong> (song routines),<br />
James Pervier (The Hot Pursuit B<strong>and</strong>),<br />
Jeannie O’Diorne, MC-Comedian, Kara<br />

Vacancy on Brookfield<br />
Advisory Committee<br />
BROOKFIELD — There is an opening<br />
on the Advisory Committee in Brookfield,<br />
with Marc Charpentier announcing his<br />
resignation from the town’s finance<br />
board.<br />
“Due to some personal issues I, unfortunately,<br />
am unable to fulfill my obligations<br />
to the Town of Brookfield <strong>and</strong> you as a<br />
committee,” Charpentier wrote in an Oct.<br />
22 e-mail to Advisory Committee members.<br />
“Hopefully, when I get these issues<br />
ironed our I will be able to be of some<br />
service to the Town in the future.”<br />
The Advisory Committee has the<br />
unique power to appoint its own members,<br />
unlike other boards, which must<br />
have the Board of Selectmen approve<br />
prospective members.<br />

Panther Punch<br />
1 part gin, 1 part rum, 1 part fruit juice<br />
(grapefruit or pineapple), 1/2 cup sugar, 2<br />
cups water<br />
Mix <strong>and</strong> add ice cubes. For a large<br />
crowd serve in punch bowl <strong>and</strong> chill well.<br />
If pineapple juice is used, sugar may be<br />
omitted or added in less quantity according<br />
to taste.<br />
Knitting workshop<br />
to be held at library<br />
SPENCER — The Richard Sugden<br />
Library’s workshop series “Knitting with<br />
Doris” will start Monday, Nov. 30.<br />
Beginning adult knitters are invited to<br />
learn, knit <strong>and</strong> pearl stitches as they create<br />
their own scarves. Classes will be held<br />
from 10:30 a.m. to noon Mondays <strong>and</strong><br />
Wednesdays, Nov. 30 through Dec. 16.<br />
Classes will be held on the library's second<br />
floor.<br />

North Brookfield to<br />
mark Christmas season<br />
NORTH BROOKFIELD — North<br />
Brookfield Decorates have been busy getting<br />
the town ready for the holiday season,<br />
with decorative swags adorning all<br />
buildings <strong>and</strong> the large 50-foot pine tree<br />
smack dab in the middle of downtown.<br />
But more importantly, Santa is on his<br />
way. Join North Brookfield Decorates, the<br />
Friends of the Library <strong>and</strong> the Theatre<br />
Guild of North Brookfield to celebrate<br />
the season Saturday, Dec. 5 starting with<br />
“Letters to Santa” at the Haston Free<br />
Public Library. Children of all ages are<br />
welcome to write their letters to Santa at<br />
5 p.m. Around 5:30 everyone is invited to<br />
walk to the North Brookfield Christmas<br />
tree lighting ceremony at the corner of<br />
Summer <strong>and</strong> North Main streets, where<br />
they will be greeted by the North<br />
Brookfield Theatre Guild's carolers. Sing<br />
along to great holiday classics <strong>and</strong> help<br />
count down to lighting the Christmas tree<br />
<strong>and</strong> Santa’s arrival.<br />
Remember, the Theatre Guild will be<br />
performing the holiday classic “Miracle<br />
on 34th Street” in the following weeks. Let<br />
the holiday spirit last all December long.<br />
Also, as a great stocking stuffer or a<br />
holiday grab gift, the North Brookfield<br />
Decorates raffle calendars are available<br />
for only $10. The calendars are for the<br />
month of January 2010 <strong>and</strong> offer a chance<br />

for homeless veterans<br />
SPENCER — Gaudette-Kirk American<br />
Legion Post 138, 175 Main St. (Route 9),<br />
has put out collection boxes to collect new<br />
clothing for homeless veterans. Articles<br />
such as gloves, hats, socks <strong>and</strong> underwear<br />
are very much appreciated.<br />
The boxes are located at three local<br />
businesses: Spencer Savings Bank (both<br />
the main branch <strong>and</strong> the Fair Plaza<br />
branch), Big Y <strong>and</strong> Klem’s.<br />

School to host show<br />

BROOKFIELD — Brookfield<br />
Elementary School will host the<br />
Brookfield seniors for a turkey dinner<br />
<strong>and</strong> show on at 12:45 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21.<br />
The fourth-, fifth- <strong>and</strong> sixth-grade chorus<br />
will perform “An Early American<br />
Christmas, A Revolutionary Holiday<br />
Celebration.” Seniors are encouraged to<br />
bring a food donation for the local food<br />
pantry.<br />
