KEEP WELL CLINIC, hosted by VNA Care<br />

Network <strong>and</strong> Hospice, will be held from 11<br />

a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Council on Aging, 40 Wall<br />

St., Spencer. Local residents may have their<br />

blood pressure checked <strong>and</strong> learn about<br />

health concerns. Blood sugar, weight monitoring<br />

<strong>and</strong> other health assessments are also<br />

available at most locations. Clinics are open<br />

to residents aged 60 <strong>and</strong> older. VNA Care<br />

Network <strong>and</strong> Hospice clinics are funded in<br />

part by the United Way, local Boards of<br />

Health, private foundations, client donations<br />

will be “Homework Horrors: How to Avoid<br />

Them” from 6:30-7:30 p.m. with Stuart<br />

Paskin, project director of the Title I<br />

Dissemination Project, <strong>and</strong> “Internet<br />

Safety/Cyber Bullying” from 7:30-8:30 p.m.,<br />

presented by Julie Lesure from District<br />

BLUE CHRISTMAS: A SERVICE OF<br />

HEALING will start at 7 p.m. at the First<br />

Congregational Church of Spencer, U.C.C.,<br />

207 Main St. (Route 9), Spencer. All are invited<br />

to attend <strong>and</strong> experience the gift of the<br />

congregation’s ecumenically minded healing<br />

ministry this Christmas season. This ministry<br />

is quite different from others that you<br />

may have seen before, <strong>and</strong> is very sensitive to<br />

providing support for mind, body <strong>and</strong> spirit.<br />

The service will feature hymns, scripture,<br />

prayers, a litany of forgiveness, musical <strong>and</strong><br />

guided meditation. There will also be five<br />

“stations for healing,” where ministries such<br />

as anointing, symbolic washing <strong>and</strong> renewal,<br />

c<strong>and</strong>le lighting, “nailing notes to the<br />

cross” <strong>and</strong> one-on-one prayer will be offered.<br />

People attending the service are invited to<br />

visit any of the stations that they would like,<br />

or to just observe. The service will conclude<br />

with Holy Communion, which is open to all<br />

BINGO will be held every Thursday at<br />

Spencer Council No. 118 of the Knights of<br />

Columbus, 10 Meadow Road, Spencer. Doors<br />

open at 4:30 p.m. The first game starts at 6:45<br />

p.m. Come <strong>and</strong> enjoy some good food, good<br />

people <strong>and</strong> hopefully win a little. Join the fun<br />

<strong>and</strong> help the Knights help others. The top<br />

“EBENEZER SCROOGE: A CHRISTMAS<br />

adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic is<br />

a surefire holiday treat that is bound to put<br />
