KEEP WELL CLINIC, hosted by VNA Care
Network and Hospice, will be held from 11
a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Council on Aging, 40 Wall
St., Spencer. Local residents may have their
blood pressure checked and learn about
health concerns. Blood sugar, weight monitoring
and other health assessments are also
available at most locations. Clinics are open
to residents aged 60 and older. VNA Care
Network and Hospice clinics are funded in
part by the United Way, local Boards of
Health, private foundations, client donations

PARENT WORKSHOPS will be sponsored
by the Spencer-East Brookfield Regional
School District at Wire Village School, 60
Paxton Road, Spencer. The topics discussed
will be “Homework Horrors: How to Avoid
Them” from 6:30-7:30 p.m. with Stuart
Paskin, project director of the Title I
Dissemination Project, and “Internet
Safety/Cyber Bullying” from 7:30-8:30 p.m.,
presented by Julie Lesure from District
Attorney Joseph Early’s office. Please contact

BLUE CHRISTMAS: A SERVICE OF
HEALING will start at 7 p.m. at the First
Congregational Church of Spencer, U.C.C.,
207 Main St. (Route 9), Spencer. All are invited
to attend and experience the gift of the
congregation’s ecumenically minded healing
ministry this Christmas season. This ministry
is quite different from others that you
may have seen before, and is very sensitive to
providing support for mind, body and spirit.
The service will feature hymns, scripture,
prayers, a litany of forgiveness, musical and
guided meditation. There will also be five
“stations for healing,” where ministries such
as anointing, symbolic washing and renewal,
candle lighting, “nailing notes to the
cross” and one-on-one prayer will be offered.
People attending the service are invited to
visit any of the stations that they would like,
or to just observe. The service will conclude
with Holy Communion, which is open to all

THURSDAY

BINGO will be held every Thursday at
Spencer Council No. 118 of the Knights of
Columbus, 10 Meadow Road, Spencer. Doors
open at 4:30 p.m. The first game starts at 6:45
p.m. Come and enjoy some good food, good
people and hopefully win a little. Join the fun
and help the Knights help others. The top
prize is still $1,199.

“EBENEZER SCROOGE: A CHRISTMAS
CAROL” will be presented by New Life Fine
Arts musical theater until Dec. 20 at the
Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts, 40
Stow St., Concord. The good news musical
adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic is
a surefire holiday treat that is bound to put
you in the Christmas spirit. Celebrate the
spiritual transformation of the tight-fisted
curmudgeon, Ebenezer Scrooge, to “a man
who knew how to keep Christmas well.” This
musical adaptation is written and directed
by David MacAdam and features Robert
