Achievement Period<br />

Achievements by nominees will only be considered if they have occurred during the achievement period 10 April 2012 to 1 April 2013.<br />

Conditions of Nomination<br />

Nominees under consideration for the awards must be a <strong>Wellington</strong>ian, as per the criteria (a), (b), or (c) below:<br />

(a) Through residency in the greater <strong>Wellington</strong> region during the qualifying period.<br />

(b) Through representing the <strong>Wellington</strong> region or a <strong>Wellington</strong> based club in their chosen discipline during the qualifying period.<br />

(c) Through being commonly acknowledged as a <strong>Wellington</strong>ian (including the Wairarapa, Kapiti, Porirua and Hutt<br />

Valley) although not regularly resident in the region due to the demands of their sporting career.<br />

Nominations will be accepted from all national and regional sport organisations, clubs, media and the general<br />

public.<br />

Information presented in the nomination form must be clear, concise and accurate as it is used by<br />

our judging panel to make an informed and final decision on finalists and winners.<br />

Please ensure you include all relevant information about achievements under the correct<br />

headings, listing their highest achievements first in each section. Please provide information<br />

on achievements as if the selection panel knows nothing about the sport.<br />

Selection of category finalists and winners will be made by an independent panel of judges.<br />

The judging panel’s decision is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.<br />

<strong>Sport</strong>sman of the Year<br />

Open to any male who has excelled as an individual or in a team in one or more sports within the achievement period.<br />

<strong>Sport</strong>swoman of the Year<br />

Open to any female who has excelled as an individual or in a team in one or more sports within the achievement period.<br />

Team of the Year<br />

Open to any outstanding team of two or more persons within the achievement period.<br />

Coach of the Year<br />

Open to any outstanding coach within the achievement period.<br />

Disabled Athlete of the Year<br />

Open to any male or female athlete with a disability who has excelled as an individual or in a team in one or more sports as a disabled athlete<br />

within the achievement period.<br />

Emerging SPORTSMAN AND SPORTSWOMAN of the Year (TWO AWARDS)<br />

Open to any male and female athletes who have excelled as an individual or in a team in one or more sports within the achievement period,<br />

with an upper age limit of 23 years at the time of their ‘best performance.’<br />

Personality of the Year<br />

Open to an individual or group of individuals that have brought colour, passion or flair and contributed positively to the culture of sport either<br />

on or off the field. The winner will be decided by a people’s choice promotion through The Dominion Post.<br />

Club Team of the Year<br />

Open to an outstanding club team of two or more persons within the achievement period.<br />

Volunteer of the Year<br />

Open to a volunteer who has displayed outstanding commitment and dedication within the achievement period.<br />

Official of the Year<br />

Open to an outstanding referee / umpire / judge within the achievement period.<br />

Administrator of the Year<br />

Open to a club, association or sport event administrator (paid or unpaid) who has made a significant contribution within the achievement period.<br />

Lifetime Contribution to <strong>Sport</strong><br />

Open to an individual to honour their past and / or ongoing contribution to sport.<br />

The Dominion Post <strong>Sport</strong>sperson of the Year Award is selected from the winners of<br />

all categories (excluding Lifetime Contribution to <strong>Sport</strong> and Personality of the Year).<br />
