He is the author <strong>of</strong> The End <strong>of</strong> History <strong>and</strong> the Last Man (1992),<br />

which was awarded the Los Angeles Times’ Book Critics Award, <strong>and</strong><br />

more recently <strong>of</strong> State-Building: <strong>Governance</strong> <strong>and</strong> World Order in the<br />
