St Barnabas CEVC Primary School
Newsletter 21 st November 2011
It was lovely to see so many of you at our recent parents’ meetings. Many
thanks to everyone who took part in our parent survey. We’ll be posting the
survey information on our web site.
Improving Communication
We hope you have had the chance to have a look at our new web site. Thank
you to everyone who has given us feedback. We are updating the site on a
regular basis to keep you up to date with what’s going on. Please have a look

Book Fayre
Mrs Grant has asked me to let you know that we are having a Book Fayre in
school from Monday 5 th December – Friday 9 th December. The Book Fayre
will be open after school between 3.15 - 4.00pm each day except Thursday
which is the Disco.
Bristol Choral Society Winter Concert
Our Year 4 & 5 pupils & the Family Choir will be taking part in the Bristol
Choral Society Winter Concert on Tuesday 6 th December at 6.30pm. The
Concert will take place in St Barnabas School Hall and we’ll be joined by
pupils and parents from Ashley Down School.
School Disco
The Winter Disco will take place on Thursday 8 th December after school.
Plans are already underway and the children are looking forward to it. If you
have any spare time, why not get involved in making decorations or
organising food. The next Disco planning meeting will take place on Monday
28 th November at 9.15 in the Library.
Attendance Assembly
We’ll be presenting awards to our best attending pupils in terms 1&2 on
Monday 12 th December at 1.30. We’re hoping that our friend “Be There
Badger” will be coming along to join us and help to present the awards.
School Christmas Lunch
School Christmas Lunch will take place on Wednesday 14 th December. If
your child does not usually have School Lunch and would like to have lunch
on that day, please let Mrs Dixon know in advance by Monday 5 th December.
Nativity Assembly
Our Reception pupils will be presenting our Nativity Assembly on Thursday
15 th December at 9.30am in the Hall. Please come along and join us.

Sparkle Day
The last day of term 2 will be Sparkle Day. This is an opportunity for children
and staff to let their light shine in their most sparkly clothes.
REMINDER - Applications for Primary Places 2012
Applications for Reception places for 2012 should be submitted online by 15 th
January 2011. We’ll be doing one more parent ”show round” this term on
Friday 9 th December at 11.00am. If you know anyone who would like to come
and look around, please let them know.

INDUSTRIAL ACTION
Many public sector Unions, including teaching & support staff in schools, are
calling for strike action in defence of public service pensions on Wednesday
30 th November. If the action goes ahead, it is likely that the school will have to
close on that day. We’ll keep you updated on developments.
