to <strong>the</strong> afores<strong>aid</strong> advertisement, <strong>the</strong> Trust received 765 proposals <strong>in</strong> total till 16 th May 2012 and 141 more proposals were also received beyond 16 th May 2012 till date. Out <strong>of</strong> 765 cases, <strong>the</strong> GIA Committee <strong>in</strong> its first phase <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>held</strong> on 6.7.2012 had considered 371 cases and approved 61 cases for a total <strong>grant</strong> <strong>of</strong> Rs.85.25 lac. 4. Dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> 2 nd phase, <strong>the</strong> Sub Committee, consist<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Director, NBT, one nom<strong>in</strong>ee <strong>of</strong> MHRD and JD(A&F), NBT, <strong>in</strong> its <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>held</strong> on 10 th September 2012 scrut<strong>in</strong>ized <strong>the</strong> rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g 535 cases and recommended 34 proposals for <strong>the</strong> <strong>grant</strong> <strong>of</strong> Rs.34.25 lac as per Annexure-I. Item No. 1: To consider <strong>the</strong> recommendations <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> GIA Sub-Committee <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>held</strong> on 10.9.2012 recommend<strong>in</strong>g 34 cases (out <strong>of</strong> total 535 cases) for GIA. The GIA Committee after due deliberation approved <strong>the</strong> recommendations <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Sub Committee/Screen<strong>in</strong>g Committee for sanction <strong>of</strong> GIA <strong>in</strong> respect <strong>of</strong> 34 NGOs/ organisations <strong>of</strong> Rs.34.25 lac (Annexure-I). Item No. 2: To consider 29 old cases <strong>of</strong> NGOs <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Trust after transfer <strong>of</strong> thisscheme <strong>in</strong> 2006 from M<strong>in</strong>istry & 19 old default cases <strong>of</strong> MHRD (BP-II) before 2006 who have failed to submit <strong>the</strong> utilization certificate after release <strong>of</strong> 1 st <strong>in</strong>stalment to <strong>the</strong>m for penal action. After deliberation, <strong>the</strong> GIA Committee decided to send notices to <strong>the</strong> Sureties <strong>in</strong> all cases for settlement <strong>of</strong> accounts. The Committee also decided to send letters to Registrar <strong>of</strong> Societies concerned with endorsement to District Collectors/Magistrates for appropriate action. Item No. 3: Cancellation <strong>of</strong> <strong>grant</strong> approved <strong>in</strong> favour <strong>of</strong> 11 NGOs dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> 7 th & 8 th <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong> which were <strong>held</strong> <strong>in</strong> October 2009 & December 2010 respectively. The GIA Committee approved <strong>the</strong> cancellation <strong>of</strong> <strong>grant</strong>s to 11 NGOs as per Annexure-III. Item No. 4: To consider <strong>the</strong> ratification <strong>of</strong> Rs. 5.00 lac Grant <strong>in</strong> Aid sanctioned to <strong>the</strong> Book Sellers & Publishers Association <strong>of</strong> South India, (BAPASI), Chennai, Tamil Nadu for organiz<strong>in</strong>g Book Fair from 13 August 2012 to 9 th September 2012at Madurai (Tamil Nadu) The GIA Committee ratified <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> Rs.5.00 lac Grant-<strong>in</strong>-Aid sanctioned to <strong>the</strong> Book Seller & Publishers Association <strong>of</strong> South India, (BAPASI), Chennai, Tamil Nadu by <strong>the</strong> Chairman on 13.8.2012. Item No. 5: Approval for enhancement <strong>of</strong> <strong>grant</strong> <strong>of</strong> Rs.2.50 lac sanctioned <strong>in</strong> 10 th (Ist phase) <strong>meet<strong>in</strong>g</strong> to Rs.4.50 lac as requested by Secretary General, Authors Guild <strong>of</strong> India, New Delhi for organiz<strong>in</strong>g two days sem<strong>in</strong>ar on “Authors readers and contempary society” at Chennai, Tamil Nadu.” The <strong>committee</strong> after due deliberation enhanced <strong>the</strong> <strong>grant</strong> to Authors Guild <strong>of</strong> India from Rs.2.5 lac to Rs.3.00 lac as a special case. Item No. 6: To consider <strong>the</strong> letter dated 28.8.2012 received from Shri P L Punia, Hon’ble Member <strong>of</strong> Parliament & Chairman, National Commission for Scheduled Caste, for re-consideration <strong>of</strong> <strong>grant</strong> to Shri Hans Shakshanik Avam Sewa Sansthan, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) The Committee after due deliberation did not agree for <strong>the</strong> Grant-<strong>in</strong>-<strong>aid</strong> to <strong>the</strong> NGO. 3
