Dear Colleagues,
My name is Abhinav Sharma and I am a cardiology residency here at the University of
Alberta. I have had the pleasure of working with many of you in the CCU and cardiology
wards. I will be running for the position of the CAIR Alberta representative.
A little bit about my background, I grew up in Hong Kong and eventually moved to
Ontario where I completed medical school and my Internal medicine training at
McMaster University. I moved here to start my cardiology training in July 2012, so I
have been in Alberta for more around ten months and I am loving the experience.
In terms of my exposure in the political realm, I have a significant amount of experience
in various councils in McMaster, such as the McMaster Medicine Admissions
committee, the Internal Medicine Social Committee, and the International Medicine
Advocacy Group to name a few. Even though I am new here in Edmonton, I can bring
my years of experience from McMaster and put it to good use.
The bottom line is that we are all swamped with work, social, and life commitments and
that we need people who are reliable and easy to work with on CAIR. I am very
personable, approachable, and I care about the issues affecting residents. Having gone
through internal medicine, I have already faced a lot of the same problems that
residents here are going through. I hope to be your voice on the council and help bring
your issues to the forefront. I will make your experience here in Alberta the best that it
can be.
