General requirements for all DAS positions:<br />

• Attend training in specific area. (All tutors, test proctors and monitors)<br />

• Arrive punctually and carry out all job responsibilities.<br />

• Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.<br />

• Wear appropriate clothing following the dress code.<br />

• Respect and maintain student confidentiality.<br />

• Complete any documentation in a timely manner.<br />

• Attend all required meetings.<br />

• Follow DAS program policies and procedures, including those prohibiting use of<br />

cell phones and iPods and having food and drink while working in the ARC.<br />

Job Description:<br />

An ARC Tutor will tutor his/her subject/course specialty, including<br />

• Assist students with understanding of class readings and lectures.<br />

• Assist student with studying and preparing for tests.<br />

• Contact instructors of course tutored to acquire necessary information to pass on.<br />

• <strong>Request</strong> a copy of the syllabus from course professors.<br />

• <strong>Request</strong> copies of course textbooks or any other resources to be used for tutoring<br />

in the ARC, if needed.


Special abilities/skills:<br />

• Competence in your academic or subject area (3.0 or higher in course or<br />

courses you wish to tutor).<br />

• Written recommendations from a member of the Wesley Faculty.<br />

• Above average student with good study habits (2.75 or higher overall GPA).<br />

• Exemplary personal behavior.<br />

• People skills – friendly, outgoing, etc.<br />

• Interest in helping others to achieve academic success.<br />

• Writing Center Tutors: enrollment in EN101.<br />

<strong>Work</strong> Schedule:<br />

• The position entails an average work commitment of seven to twelve hours<br />

weekly (but may vary).<br />

• Hours throughout the day<br />

o Sunday: 3pm-10 pm<br />

o Monday – Thursday: 8 am - 11pm<br />

o Friday: 8am – 3 pm.<br />

• Schedule to be set after hire to coordinate with student’s courses.<br />
