Golfers on Fire at 18 th Annual Golf Tournament

Golfers in attendance at the 18 th Annual
SCMA Golf Tournament were on
fire the day of the tournament in more
ways than one. The tournament was
held on Monday, April 28, 2008, at
Coyote Hills Golf Course in Fullerton,
California. The tournament was a great
success. Eighty-four golfers endured a challenging course
and the 100 degree temperature that heated up the day.
Many alumni, family, and friends of SCMA participated
in the annual golf tournament.
First was the Putting Contest. Sister Johnellen joined in
on the fun at the Putting Contest. She said she may even
get on the course next year and play. Golfers, beware and
take cover.
The tournament began at 12:30p.m. under sweltering heat
and beautiful blue skies. Golfers played a 4-Man Shamble
format, and the scores went low with the winning team
shooting 15 under par. At the conclusion of the tournament
four golfers headed off to the 18 th fairway to hit one
shot from 162 yards for a chance to win $100,000. Unfortunately,
we will have to wait until next year for someone
to be a little richer. All in all the golf was great, and the
weather cooled down creating a wonderful evening setting
for the dinner.
The Coyote Hills Golf Course prepared a wonderful dinner
for the golfers and special guests that were in attendance.
The Tri-Tip and chicken were outstanding along
with all the side dishes. After dinner concluded, the
awards were issued to the golfers for 1 st , 2 nd , and 3 rd place
finishes. The Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin awards
were also awarded. During dinner the Silent Auction and
Raffle raised money for the school. SCMA thanks everyone
who supported this fundraising event through your
donations and sponsorships. Special thanks to Mr. Eric
Homme, alumni Class of 1991, for being the Presenting
Sponsor of the 18 th Annual SCMA Golf Tournament.
SCMA recognized a long time friend of St. Catherine’s,
Mr. Stan Pawlowski. Stan and his wife Theresa have two
children, Tony and Anita, and have lived in Anaheim for
many years. Their son Tony attended SCMA in the 70’s.
Besides being
an alumni parent,
Stan has
been a member
of the SCMA
Board of Directors
and
Development
Board for numerous
years.
Stan has given
much of his
time, energy,
and love to
SCMA. Thus,
we felt the
We honor Stan Pawlowski for his many years of
kindness and service to St. Catherine’s. Thank
you, Stan!
Annual Golf Tournament would be a very nice venue for
us to honor such an incredible man. Once again we thank
you, Mr. Pawlowski, for all your years of service to St.
Catherine’s Military Academy.
Finally, many thanks go out to a number of volunteers
who helped create such a wonderful day; especially, Mr.
Paul Kush, who was Chairman of this event. Mr. Kush’s
hard work and continuous love for the school shows in all
that he does for SCMA. Paul and his wife, Rosalie, are the
parents of Joshua Kush. Joshua graduated in 2006, and
the Kush family continues to pour their hearts out to
SCMA even after Joshua’s graduation. In addition, many
thanks go out to Sister Johnellen, Mike Mogensen, Col.
Bizzell, Katherine Andresen, Rosalie Kush, Norma
Boyzo, Lorri Spiering, Jesenia Botello, Graciela Salvador,
Lora Perry, and Coach Greg Jones for their hard work and
dedication to SCMA in making the 18 th Annual SCMA
Golf Tournament a great success. Remember, keep your
head down,
swing slow, and
follow through
or just say what
the heck and let
it rip. See you
