AUGUST 2014 ISSUE
The online gaming industry is constantly growing and evolving. It is a broad
industry that can be divided in major categories. Online gaming is fairly easier
to use and more convenient compared to other types of video games. Game
portals like Newgrounds and Y8.com do not require excessive hardware and
software requirements and are also easily accessible. These game portals
usually host Flash online games, which are very easy to make. In the early to
mid-2000s, game portals were at its peak as many Internet users were playing
in these kind of websites. But with the rise of newer technology, game portals
have been declining. 3D games are easier and also cheaper to develop now,
which is why gamers are switching from Flash games to 3D games. Today, only a
few of these game portals have expanded its operations. Newgrounds have
expanded its features through the addition of movies, art, and audio. Game
portals are fast declining, and Orgitech plans to be an exemption of this trend
and succeed in the gaming industry.
Original Innovations & Technology (OrgITech) started in 2014 by three De
La Salle University students namely Jozef Dating, Ivan Gervasio and Jason
Magat. These students like to play computer games and because of their
passion for gaming, they decided to put up an online business in which they
created a game portal that offers different kinds of quality computer games
that it will make it easier to search for games. Also, the students also want
to integrate interactivity between gamers so that they’ll be able to socialize
with each other that can result into starting friendships.
To be able to offer
good quality games
and good quality
customer services to
the customers
To be the best gaming
portal that values the
customer gaming
satisfaction and
bridge in building
friendships.
Newgrounds is an entertainment and social media website that primarily
hosts online gaming. Founded in 1995 by Tom Fulp, the website mainly hosts Adobe
Flash animations and games. The game portal’s offices are currently located in
Glenside, Pennsylvania. Newgrounds members can submit games through Flash
content. Through the years, Newgrounds has expanded its operations. In 2009, its
website got a revamp by switching to a wide layout design. Users can watch movies,
listen to music, and browse works of art like illustrations, 3d art, and other digital
art. Membership accounts are free. The benefits of having an account are the ability
to post in forums, review submissions, file storage, share movies, audio, and art,
keep a favorites list, accumulate stats and etc. Newgrounds generate profits mainly
through advertisements.
Orgitech can adopt some of the features of Newgrounds. Operations can not just be
limited to games, but it could expand to movie and audio streaming as well. Adding
these features would expand the target market of Orgitech, thus more site visitors.
The Newgrounds web layout can also be used as a basis in designing Orgitech’s
website as it is easy to use. Having a web layout that is easy to use is very
important, as site visitors tend to stop using a website that is complicated to
navigate.
