Artistic Championship or a Continental Championship, and has reached the age of TWENTY-<br />

ONE (21) years of age, they will be allowed to take the examination. After passing the examination<br />

the candidate shall not skate in a competition of any kind.<br />

4.03.08 International Judges who reach the age of SIXTY-FIVE (65) may be retained on the CIPA Judge<br />

List and may continue to judge all international events, with the exception of the world<br />

championships, as long as they remain active in their National Federation.<br />

4.03.09 Commissions will not be issued to anyone who is still actively competing in roller skating<br />

competitions, or who is teaching roller skating.<br />

4.03.10 Commissions will not be issued to anyone who has not competed in roller skating within ten (10)<br />

years of taking the test.<br />

4.03.11 To be eligible to test for the position of International Judge, a candidate must hold the following<br />

commissions in their National Federation:<br />

A. Figures<br />

B. Free Skating<br />

C. Dance<br />

D. Pairs<br />

4.03.12 Candidates who fail the test may take the test again after a period of one (1) year.<br />

4.03.13 Candidates who fail the “A” category test and pass the “B” category test may apply for an upgrade<br />

to the “A” category after officiating at an international contest and filing application to CIPA<br />

through their National Federation.<br />

4.03.14 CIPA may, under extenuating circumstances, permit candidates to take tests and be issued<br />

commissions without full compliance of these regulations, if it is in the best interests of the sport<br />

on an international basis.<br />

4.03.15 The CIPA Executive Committee may waive these rules, but only in countries where roller skating<br />

has not been practiced long enough to meet these requirements.<br />

4.03.16 National Federations must submit the names of their judges to the CIPA President if they wish<br />

these names to be retained on the international list.<br />

4.03.17 Only judges nominated by their National Federation will be considered to judge an international<br />

event in the category of World Class, World Games, Pan American Games, Asian Games, Senior<br />

European Championships, etc.<br />

4.03.18 Only the CIPA Executive Committee may invite judges to the events over which they have<br />

jurisdiction.<br />

4.03.19 A judge must withdraw from a panel if a conflict of interest should arise.<br />

4.03.20 A “conflict of interest” occurs when a judge is assigned to an event in which one or more of the<br />

competitors are:<br />

A. A relative<br />

B. A student of a relative<br />

C. A former student<br />

D. A former competitive partner<br />

A two year period should elapse between skating with a partner, or teaching a pupil, who you are<br />

likely to judge.<br />

Commission Fees<br />

4.04.01 The commission fee for a new judge or calculator shall be the USA Dollars of $70.00.<br />

4.04.02 The renewal fee for a judge or calculator shall be the USA Dollars of $35.00 to be sent to CIPA<br />

President by 31 of January.<br />
