General Information or FAX to the attention of Dr. Kurt Kennel at 507-255-6155. Two cases will be selected for presentation. Authors of selected cases will receive additional information from course directors prior to the course. Short Lectures • All didactic lectures will be limited to 25 minutes. • Open panel question and answer periods will follow each group of 3 to 4 lectures. Case-Based Debates • A case will be presented by the moderator. • The moderator will ask structured questions for comment from the debaters and attendees. • Using an audience response system, the attendees will vote for “treatment A” or “treatment B.” • Two debaters will present their arguments. • After hearing the debate, the audience will re-vote on the treatment options. Clinicopathologic Conference (CPC) • Unknown cases are presented to faculty members. • Using a test menu system, a faculty member works through the case step-by-step. Clinical Pearls • Clinical “Pearls” are concise practical insights relevant to the practicing endocrinologist, but not widely appreciated or represent changes to historical practice. • This session is case-based and fast-paced. • The faculty presents brief clinical cases illustrating important teaching points. • Attendees should leave each pearl session with a rich list of important clinical pearls that are directly applicable to patient care Panel Discussions • The moderator presents 2 – 4 cases based on the session theme to a subspecialist panel. • The panel responds to questions from the moderator and audience regarding management. • Teaching points are many with panelists providing clinical pearls related to the theme. Breakfast Roundtable Discussions • Each day, attendees will have the opportunity to informally discuss cases or issues in the diagnosis or management of endocrine disorders. Key Scientific Articles in Endocrinology 2012 • At the conclusion of each themed session, Mayo Clinic faculty will introduce key articles published in 2012 that have significant implications for clinical practice. Setbacks in Endocrinology • Mayo Clinic faculty will share setbacks encountered in patient management and the lessons that they learned.
