Appointment of a new Deputy Headmaster<br />
After a very thorough interview process, in which the Board<br />
of Trustees interviewed eight candidates in a high quality<br />
field, Mr Ainsley Robson was appointed to the position of<br />
Deputy Headmaster and will start his duties at the start of<br />
Term 3, <strong>2013</strong>. Mr Robson started his teaching career at<br />
Rotorua Boys’ High <strong>School</strong> and since 2002 has taught at<br />
Hamilton’s Fraser High <strong>School</strong> firstly as a Dean, Timetabler<br />
and Head of Department of Chemistry and more recently,<br />
since 2008 as Deputy Headmaster. His referees<br />
commented that he was an “outstanding educationalist …<br />
who shows a lot of passion and commitment … has an<br />
excellent analytical mind and organisational ability … while<br />
he establishes an excellent rapport and is compassionate<br />
with students, he is willing to make the hard calls …” Highly<br />
experienced, Mr Robson is well respected by his colleagues<br />
and will build on the strength that already exists within our Senior Leadership Team. Mr<br />
Robson and his wife, Allannah and two children will live onsite as part of our residential<br />
boarding community.<br />
Appointment of Chief Instructor at Tihoi<br />
With the departure of Mr Richard Kersel for a position as Education Officer at Waitomo, Mr<br />
Cam Walker has been appointed to the position of Chief Instructor at Tihoi and will<br />
commence his duties at the start of Term 2. Mr Walker, has been working until recently at<br />
Macquarie Island, a sub-Antarctic island. He has worked previously between 2009 – 2011<br />
as a tutor and outdoor instructor at the Tihoi Venture <strong>School</strong> and has NZOIA Alpine, Kayak<br />
and Bush instructor qualifications, as well as a tertiary qualification in Outdoor Education and<br />
Leadership from AUT.<br />
Appointment of Communications and Marketing Executive<br />
With Mrs Tina Bowler’s departure to take up a marketing<br />
management role at Centre Place, Mrs Michelle Smith has<br />
been appointed as Director of both Development and<br />
Marketing. Ms Karen Pickering will assist in the areas of<br />
communication and marketing. Ms Pickering has had<br />
experience in this area in working for the Royal Women’s<br />
Hospital and for a public relations firm in Melbourne.<br />
Appointment of Assistant Librarian and Tuck Shop Manager<br />
With Mrs Carmel Luman joining Mr Chris Luman at<br />
Maritzburg College, Mrs Judy Clark has been appointed to<br />
take over Mrs Luman’s responsibilities in both the Library<br />
and Tuck Shop. Mrs Clark has held the role of Library<br />
Manager at Fairfield Intermediate for the past eight years,<br />
where she did a wonderful job in promoting the library as an<br />
exciting place to utilise and to learn in. We look forward to<br />
benefiting from Mrs Clark’s enthusiasm and passion for<br />
recreational reading for both boys and girls.<br />
