ALL SAINTS’ COMMEMOR ATIONS On Sunday, November 6, All Hallow’s Eve, the Church remembers the communion of saints, known and unknown, the cloud of witnesses to the faith with which God has surrounded us. The annual Requiem Eucharist for All Departed will be held on Sunday, November 6 at 4 p.m. in the Cathedral. We will pray for all members and friends of the Cathedral who have died in the past year. On that day the Church remembers all who have died in the faith of Christ. In our remembrance we express the communion of the living and the dead in the body of Christ by a commemoration of those who having professed faith in the living Christ in days past entered into the nearer presence of their Lord. This year we will celebrate a unique Requiem Eucharist on All Saints’ Sunday, November 6 at 4 p.m. Please join us for this very special worship service during which we will remember by name those members and friends of the Cathedral parish who have died in the faith of Christ in the past year. The ancient and image-rich Christian texts of the Requiem will be sung by the full Cathedral Choir using the music of Tomás Luis de Victoria (1548–1611), the great Spanish priest-musician whose large corpus of transcendently beautiful sacred music has secured him a place as one of the greatest composers in the whole span of Christianity. His setting of the Requiem (Officium Defunctorum, 1605) will be sung in its intended but rarely heard context of worship, a fully choral service of Holy Communion. youth ministries PR AYERS HAPPENING #56 is coming soon! WHAT: Happening is a fun and exciting retreat led BY teenagers FOR teenagers with close to 100 youth from all over the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta. During the weekend the youth explore such issues as Faith, Prayer, Grace, Jesus Christ, and the Sacraments in ways that are truly meaningful to their spiritual lives. The weekend is full of singing, fellowship, surprises, fun and friendship and is designed so that individuals are given opportunities to discover more about themselves, their Lord, their families and their world. WHO: High Schoolers in grades 10–12 (9th graders may attend the February 24–26 Happening with the recommendation of the clergy or youth director) WHEN: November 18–20 WHERE: Camp Mikell in Toccoa, GA REGISTRATION: Go to the youth webpage to register! The purpose of the Happening movement in the Diocese of Atlanta is to enhance the ministry of the local congregation/mission by presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to youth in an environment expressed in the traditions of the Episcopal Church which fosters and nourishes growth in Jesus Christ. Dinner and Devo, Sunday October 30, 6 p.m.–7:30 p.m. Youth grades 6–12 are invited to join us for a meal and devotional. The devotional will be led by Upper School students as we examine theological themes in pop music. Bring a friend, we’ll see you there! Come spend the weekend with your friends and youth sponsors at the Twin Lakes Resort in Demorest, GA! The cost is $85. Scholarships are available upon request. To have a name placed on the prayer list, please call the Pastoral Care office, 404-365-1034. Persons must give permission to be placed on the prayer list. In addition, on Sunday morning, we pray for parishioners who are in the hospital or recovering at home. Hospitals no longer notify us when a member is a patient.
