My Philosophy
Photography has always had a special place in my heart. There is something so very magical about the
art of taking a photograph, capturing life, and holding that moment still... forever.
Allison Shumate Photography is a service-based experience from
beginning to end. I form a connection with my clients where at the
end of the day they become my friends. This bond forms a sense of
comfort, which makes for natural, beautiful photographs.
The goal of a lifestyle photographer is to capture life as it happens.
Real emotions. Real time. Unscripted. Your session will take place in a
natural outdoor setting – There is no staged studio, no backdrops, or
super posed images. I thrive on the freedom of spontaneity and it
allows me to deliver true images that depict who you are and a snippet
of your fabulous life.
Let’s chat about the overall feel you wish to achieve. Are you looking
for more rustic images or more urban? Do you like the look of
greenery and an open field or tall buildings and alleyways? Regardless
of your choice, I have several location suggestions and can help you
choose the best one that fits your style. If you have a location such as
your backyard or a special place to you and your family I am more
than happy to accommodate you! If you aren’t sure what you want… I
can help you decide or come up with something for you. Simplicity is
beautiful… so don’t rule it out!
I am a Shoot & Share photographer – I don't nickel and dime my
clients. I don't limit the number of images you'll receive based on
the price you pay. I don't overwhelm you with a dozen portrait
packages to choose from. I offer an all-inclusive experience.
What is my style? With each passing day I'm learning new and improved ways to enhance my
photography skills within this exciting industry. However, one thing will remain the same – my love for
bright, colorful, cheerful, candid photographs that tell a story.
It gives me goose bumps to capture the excitement of a newly engaged couple, the beaming smile of a
beautiful bride on her wedding day, the glow of a pregnant woman, the miracle of a newborn baby...
It’s an honor to be a part of these incredible milestones while capturing timeless memories that will be

Maternity photos matter…
I firmly believe that there are times in our lives we should document regardless of how we feel about our
bodies. Pregnancy is by far one of those precious times. Hormones running a muck, growing waistlines, an
otherwise bizarre body shape, and an insecure body image amidst the changes which are the excuses for
avoiding cameras during pregnancy are the very reasons you need to get in front of cameras.
Maternity photos are not just about a bump. They are not something you do just for your children to look
back on. They are a way to celebrate the baby you’re about to meet, to celebrate your current partner or
family, and to celebrate the strength of your body. That baby bump is beautiful. Think of all the things going
on inside that space in your body. You’ve grown a brand new organ and a person! All those extra pounds
you’re worrying about are extra blood and fluids to nourish and protect your baby, a brand new organ which
filters what goes to and from him; I’m not talking about too much pie or Cheetos, ladies. That line running
down from your middle is proof of hormones, which tell your body how to grow your child for 40
weeks! There is such power in that, in you!
Those moments in front of the lens can be you standing up to the world (particularly yourself) and saying,
“There is nothing wrong with my body, and I am excited about what the changes will bring!” It’s okay if you
don’t feel all “I am woman, hear me roar” in the moment, but I guarantee you will feel like you reclaimed
your body and new identity at least a little bit. Then, when you see the beautiful photos created, you will see
that what you criticize in the mirror isn’t so bad after all. Sometimes we have to change what we’re doing
before our thinking follows suit. Perhaps you will be reminded that what you’re documenting isn’t this
physical metamorphosis. What you’re documenting is a life created, a life changed.
What is a Fresh 48 Session?
A Fresh 48 session is an intimate session for familites that want the first hours of their newborn’s life
captured. Held within the first 24-48 hours of your baby’s life, this lifestyle session is perfect for
remembering that first day forever.
Your baby’s Fresh 48 session will happen right after brith when those emotions are still high and everything
is brand new. This is not a traditional newborn session – I will not pose the baby or bring props, etc. This
will just be me capturing your baby’s sweet new moments in a fewsh and natural way. While possibly only
days apart, your baby will barely even look the same by the time of your newborn’s portrait session (typically
held within 7-14 days of life).
Capture all the details – the tiny hat, hospital blanket, wrinkles, flaky skin, tiny feet, hospital bracelet, the
airy glow that fills your room… all the details that quickly become a blur of excitement once you bring your

v A 30% retainer and a signed contract is due to book and reserve your date
o A la carte sessions, the remaining balance can be paid at any time and in any
increment seven days prior your session.
o For the Motherhood Collection, flexible payment plan options are available.
v Cash, checks (made out to “Allison Shumate”), Square Cash via Smartphone App (debit
card), and/or PayPal (credit card) are all acceptable methods of payment.

The Simplicity of PASS
