We wish you a very warm welcome to this year’s flagship subsea
event, the biggest of its kind in Europe.
Subsea 2012 is the leading event on the subsea industry’s calendar and
brings together a wealth of participants from across the globe who are
leaders in their fi elds.
Our theme is particularly relevant this year. As the subsea industry
continues to be at the forefront of development in new frontiers, going
deeper and further than ever before, the sector must keep ahead in
terms of research and development and maintains its market share.
This year’s event provides an excellent opportunity to explore those
challenges and hear the industry debate how to tackle the challenges.
The conference will cover a range of topics including offshore renewables,
the latest developments in subsea and marine construction, global
subsea markets, new technology, safety performance and future skills.
Ongoing commitment to embracing new technology will underpin much
of the way we execute our work and develop the industry in the future.
With the emergence of deep water drilling and pressure to extend the
life of current assets, and technological advances which overcome the
challenges, continually pushing the boundaries is not simply an aspiration
but critical.
While the North Sea has long been recognised as the test-bed for
subsea technologies and services, it is now a mature province which will
continue to provide the seat of subsea learning for years to come and we
must capitalise on our position as we extend our reach geographically.
The UK will retain its place as the world-leader in the subsea sector by
pioneering and internationalising new skills, technologies and expertise
into new frontiers.
Our industry has had an exceptional year with unprecedented growth
which puts us in a strong position for the next 12 months. Subsea UK
will ensure that the success and strength of our sector is promoted both
at home and overseas.
As discoveries, production, technology, people and companies reach
further and go deeper, Subsea UK will be on-hand to support and
promote the industry.
