Admissions<br />
fulfill <strong>SUNY</strong>IT’s requirement for the satisfactory completion<br />
<strong>of</strong> one laboratory course in the physical sciences when a score<br />
<strong>of</strong> 4 or 5 has been achieved on any <strong>of</strong> the four AP examinations.<br />
Refer to page 30 in this <strong>catalog</strong> for a specific listing <strong>of</strong><br />
AP examinations and acceptable scores.<br />

How To Apply<br />
The prospective student can obtain the State University <strong>of</strong><br />
New York application from the <strong>SUNY</strong>IT Web site, a two-year<br />
college, high school, or the Admissions Office. Students using<br />
the <strong>SUNY</strong> application or applying on line should note that the<br />
<strong>SUNY</strong>IT code is 48. The program codes for <strong>SUNY</strong>IT are:<br />

Declaration <strong>of</strong> Major<br />
The campus allows freshmen to be admitted as undeclared<br />
majors. Students admitted in this manor must complete a<br />
change <strong>of</strong> program form to declare their major no later than<br />
the beginning <strong>of</strong> their junior year.<br />
Transcripts<br />
Official transcripts must be forwarded from all previous<br />
institutions attended to: Director <strong>of</strong> Admissions, State University<br />
<strong>of</strong> New York <strong>Institute</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Technology</strong>, P.O. Box 3050,<br />
Utica, New York 13504-3050.<br />
Interviews<br />
Although an interview is not required for admission, prospective<br />
students are encouraged to visit the campus and discuss<br />
educational plans with a member <strong>of</strong> the admissions staff. For<br />
students wishing to visit the campus, telephone (315) 792-7500<br />
or 1 (866) 2 <strong>SUNY</strong>IT or E-mail: admissions@sunyit.edu. The<br />
Admissions Office is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.<br />
by appointment (phone: 315-792-7500 or 1-866-2 <strong>SUNY</strong>IT). Summer<br />
<strong>of</strong>fice hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, Friday<br />
8 a.m. to Noon. Evening appointments are also available.<br />
Registration<br />
All new degree students are required to attend an<br />
orientation/registration program. Please consult the<br />
academic calendar for registration dates.<br />
Foreign Students<br />
Foreign students who meet the admission requirements may<br />
obtain foreign student application forms on the <strong>SUNY</strong>IT Website<br />
at www.sunyit.edu or E-mail: admissions@sunyit.edu.<br />
Foreign students may be required to have their transcripts<br />
evaluated through World Education Services (WES). Contact<br />
Admissions for more information.<br />
Students with Disabilities<br />
<strong>SUNY</strong>IT does not discriminate against qualified individuals<br />

Readmission<br />
A student seeking readmission to <strong>SUNY</strong>IT after missing three<br />
consecutive semesters must file a readmission petition with the<br />
Admissions Office. Readmission requirements vary from program<br />
to program. Credits taken prior to readmission, will be reviewed<br />
for appropriateness for the current degree by the department.<br />
Non-Degree Study<br />
Students may register for coursework at <strong>SUNY</strong>IT without<br />
application or admission to the college on a non-degree basis.<br />
Seats for non-degree students may be limited for some courses.<br />
Students enrolling non-degree must have completed the necessary<br />
prerequisites for the coursework to be taken.<br />
Distance Learning<br />
The college <strong>of</strong>fers selected courses in distance learning<br />
through the <strong>SUNY</strong> Learning Network (SLN). <strong>SUNY</strong>IT continues<br />
to <strong>of</strong>fer new courses through this medium each semester.<br />
On-line course <strong>of</strong>ferings vary each semester and students should<br />
contact the Registrar’s Office for a current listing <strong>of</strong> courses.<br />
Currently undergraduate Health Information Management<br />
coursework, and programs in Accountancy (M.S.), Health<br />
Services Administration (M.S.), Health Services Management<br />
(B.S.), and <strong>Technology</strong> Management (M.B.A.) are <strong>of</strong>fered<br />
on-line. Select arts and science and nursing courses are also<br />
available. On-line course work is available to both degree and<br />
non-degree students in undergraduate areas. On line graduate<br />
course work within the School <strong>of</strong> Management is limited to<br />
matriculated students unless special permission is obtained.<br />
