METHOD
Methods are important elements of
design methodology. Designers
can follow various methods to keep
their research at a high level of quality,
efficiency, and relevancy. In the present
research, this research study used
methods such as IDEO method cards,
video diaries, mind maps, and artifacts.
The most useful methods help designers
remain open to all options, delve more
deeply into the design problem, and come
up with solutions that are viable and
holistic (Mattelmaki & Matthews 2009).
In this case, IDEO method cards were
used to look for new ways to work out
design ideas. IDEO method cards are
a collection of 51 cards representing
diverse ways that designers can
understand the people they are designing
for. IDEO method cards explain how and
when the methods are best used and
also demonstrate how they have been
successfully applied to real-life design
projects. For example the research
study used a Role-Playing method to
consider the design problem from the
stakeholder’s view. With a real imagined
context, this method is useful for
revealing people’s activities, perceptions,
and values as well as patterns among
them. The research study also used a
