CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012 (SELECTION TRIALS)

For the first time the London Aquatics
Centre will host the British Gas Swimming
Championships 2012 (Selection Trials)
from 3–10 March and it promises
to be a thriller!
We want to make sure that your time at the event is
as enjoyable as possible so please read the information
provided in this pack.
Event Details
Event Timings
Heats
Doors Open at 07:30 (except for Sunday 4 March when
doors open at 08:00)
First Event starts at 09:00
Please check www.swimming.org/2012trials for Heats
finish times after 15 February 2012 when all entries and
timings are confirmed.
Finals
Doors Open at 17:00
Pre-show starts at 18:00
First Event 18:30
(All finals sessions are scheduled to end before 21:30)
The show will start at 18:00 each evening so do make
sure you’re in your seats ready for the show!
If you have purchased tickets for the Finals session on
Saturday 3rd March come and help us celebrate the start
of the competition with a one-off Opening Ceremony.
Please be seated by 18:00 for the show.

Arriving at the Venue
Please use public transport to travel to the Olympic Park,
as there is no parking at the venue. Spectators should
travel to Stratford station and then follow the signs to
the Olympic Park entrance, via Westfield Stratford City
shopping centre. This is about a 10 minute walk.
Spectators are advised to arrive at the entrance of the
Olympic Park from 90 minutes prior to the start of the
session, to ensure enough time for security screening and
accessing the venue.
After passing through a security screening area at
the entrance of the Park, you will then walk to the
Aquatics Centre, along a designated route, a distance of
approximately 150 metres.

Rail
Stratford station is served by London Underground,
DLR, London Overground, National Rail and London’s
bus network. Stratford international station is served by
the London Overground, National Rail and London’s bus
network.
Cycling
Although bicycles are not allowed into the Olympic Park,
there is public cycle parking outside Stratford Station.

to plan your journey using London transport, visit the

Accessibility
This event has reserved seating, you will need to sit in the
seats you have been allocated. If you require a wheelchair
space and companion seat, there are dedicated areas
available at this venue and a disabled ticket should be
selected at the time of purchase. If you have purchased a
general seated ticket and now require a wheelchair space
and companion seat, please call the Ticketmaster special
access phone number 0844 847 1655 and let us know
your accessibility needs.
Blue Badge parking is available in Newham. Visit the
Newham Council website for more details. Blue Badge
holders are able to benefit from the free accessible
shuttle bus from Stratford station to the entrance of the
Olympic Park.
There will be an accessible shuttle service from Bus Stop
M on Great Eastern Road (outside Stratford Regional
station). This will drop you off on Westfield Avenue; a
short distance from the London Aquatics Centre. The
shuttle will then collect spectators from Westfield Avenue
and return to Bus Stop M. It will be running all day
throughout the event.
After the security screening at the entrance of
the Olympic Park, spectators will have a route of
approximately 150 metres to the venue, which itself is
step free.
On arrival at the venue, if you need any further assistance
to get to your seat, please speak to Event Services staff.
There is no readmission to the venue.
Accessible toilets are available at the venue.
All spectators are advised to travel to the venue by
public transport. The London Underground Jubilee
and Central lines at Stratford Station are step free
as are DLR, National Rail (http://www.nationalrail.
co.uk/passenger_services/disabled_passengers/)
and London Overground platforms at this station.
Travel assistance can be pre-booked on National Rail

Safety and security
This is the second event to be staged in the Aquatics
Centre on the Olympic Park and areas of the Park will still
be under construction. As a result, spectators will need to
adhere to access instructions and security protocols.
Please be advised that the security checks are outdoors so
you will need to dress accordingly.

On arrival at the designated entry point, spectators
will be asked to pass through a screening area before
using the dedicated walking route. If, for any reason, a
spectator refuses to go through the security screening
area, they will not be permitted access into the Park and
will not be offered a refund.
If you have lost something at this event, please visit the
information point if you are still at the venue. Otherwise,

following the last day of competition (include your name,
contact details, a full description of your item, the venue
where you lost it and the date the item was lost).
There will be a Box Office on site to deal with any
ticket queries.

Any bags that are brought into the venue must be small,
soft sided and be able to fit under seating. There are no
cloakroom services available.
Reasonable quantities of food and un-opened drinks
containers (not glass) in original packaging are permitted
Facilities
Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase on site.
You can pay by Visa (debit or credit card) or cash (£) only.
If you have purchased an Event Programme online you
will be able to exchange your programme ticket at the
British Swimming Information Desk.
There are toilets and first-aid facilities inside the venue. In
addition, the information point will provide competition
and venue information, a lost and found service, and
buggy and wheelchair storage.
