LONDON AQUATICS CENTRE<br />

3-10 MARCH 2012<br />

For the first time the London Aquatics<br />

Centre will host the British Gas <strong>Swimming</strong><br />

Championships 2012 (Selection Trials)<br />

from 3–10 March and it promises<br />

to be a thriller!<br />

We want to make sure that your time at the event is<br />

as enjoyable as possible so please read the information<br />

provided in this pack.<br />

Event Details<br />

Event Timings<br />

Heats<br />

Doors Open at 07:30 (except for Sunday 4 March when<br />

doors open at 08:00)<br />

First Event starts at 09:00<br />

Please check www.swimming.org/2012trials for Heats<br />

finish times after 15 February 2012 when all entries and<br />

timings are confirmed.<br />

Finals<br />

Doors Open at 17:00<br />

Pre-show starts at 18:00<br />

First Event 18:30<br />

(All finals sessions are scheduled to end before 21:30)<br />

The show will start at 18:00 each evening so do make<br />

sure you’re in your seats ready for the show!<br />

If you have purchased tickets for the Finals session on<br />

Saturday 3rd March come and help us celebrate the start<br />

of the competition with a one-off Opening Ceremony.<br />

Please be seated by 18:00 for the show.<br />

Arriving at the Venue<br />

Please use public transport to travel to the Olympic Park,<br />

as there is no parking at the venue. Spectators should<br />

travel to Stratford station and then follow the signs to<br />

the Olympic Park entrance, via Westfield Stratford City<br />

shopping centre. This is about a 10 minute walk.<br />

Spectators are advised to arrive at the entrance of the<br />

Olympic Park from 90 minutes prior to the start of the<br />

session, to ensure enough time for security screening and<br />

accessing the venue.<br />

After passing through a security screening area at<br />

the entrance of the Park, you will then walk to the<br />

Aquatics Centre, along a designated route, a distance of<br />

approximately 150 metres.<br />

(SELECTION TRIALS)<br />

Rail<br />

Stratford station is served by London Underground,<br />

DLR, London Overground, National Rail and London’s<br />

bus network. Stratford international station is served by<br />

the London Overground, National Rail and London’s bus<br />

network.<br />

Cycling<br />

Although bicycles are not allowed into the Olympic Park,<br />

there is public cycle parking outside Stratford Station.<br />

For more information on getting around London and<br />

to plan your journey using London transport, visit the<br />

Transport for London website (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/).<br />

Accessibility<br />

This event has reserved seating, you will need to sit in the<br />

seats you have been allocated. If you require a wheelchair<br />

space and companion seat, there are dedicated areas<br />

available at this venue and a disabled ticket should be<br />

selected at the time of purchase. If you have purchased a<br />

general seated ticket and now require a wheelchair space<br />

and companion seat, please call the Ticketmaster special<br />

access phone number 0844 847 1655 and let us know<br />

your accessibility needs.<br />

Blue Badge parking is available in Newham. Visit the<br />

Newham Council website for more details. Blue Badge<br />

holders are able to benefit from the free accessible<br />

shuttle bus from Stratford station to the entrance of the<br />

Olympic Park.<br />

There will be an accessible shuttle service from Bus Stop<br />

M on Great Eastern Road (outside Stratford Regional<br />

station). This will drop you off on Westfield Avenue; a<br />

short distance from the London Aquatics Centre. The<br />

shuttle will then collect spectators from Westfield Avenue<br />

and return to Bus Stop M. It will be running all day<br />

throughout the event.<br />

After the security screening at the entrance of<br />

the Olympic Park, spectators will have a route of<br />

approximately 150 metres to the venue, which itself is<br />

step free.<br />

On arrival at the venue, if you need any further assistance<br />

to get to your seat, please speak to Event Services staff.<br />

There is no readmission to the venue.<br />

Accessible toilets are available at the venue.<br />

All spectators are advised to travel to the venue by<br />

public transport. The London Underground Jubilee<br />

and Central lines at Stratford Station are step free<br />

as are DLR, National Rail (http://www.nationalrail.<br />

co.uk/passenger_services/disabled_passengers/)<br />

and London Overground platforms at this station.<br />

Safety and security<br />

This is the second event to be staged in the Aquatics<br />

Centre on the Olympic Park and areas of the Park will still<br />

be under construction. As a result, spectators will need to<br />

adhere to access instructions and security protocols.<br />

Please be advised that the security checks are outdoors so<br />

you will need to dress accordingly.<br />

On arrival at the designated entry point, spectators<br />

will be asked to pass through a screening area before<br />

using the dedicated walking route. If, for any reason, a<br />

spectator refuses to go through the security screening<br />

area, they will not be permitted access into the Park and<br />

will not be offered a refund.<br />

If you have lost something at this event, please visit the<br />

information point if you are still at the venue. Otherwise,<br />

following the last day of competition (include your name,<br />

contact details, a full description of your item, the venue<br />

where you lost it and the date the item was lost).<br />

Any bags that are brought into the venue must be small,<br />

soft sided and be able to fit under seating. There are no<br />

cloakroom services available.<br />

Reasonable quantities of food and un-opened drinks<br />

containers (not glass) in original packaging are permitted<br />

Facilities<br />

Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase on site.<br />

You can pay by Visa (debit or credit card) or cash (£) only.<br />

If you have purchased an Event Programme online you<br />

will be able to exchange your programme ticket at the<br />

British <strong>Swimming</strong> Information Desk.<br />

There are toilets and first-aid facilities inside the venue. In<br />

addition, the information point will provide competition<br />

and venue information, a lost and found service, and<br />

buggy and wheelchair storage.<br />
