DAIRY ROYALTY<br />
members enjoy their time as dairy princesses<br />
Tiffany Till,<br />
16, of Maquoketa, Iowa, is the 2005<br />
Jackson County Dairy Princess. Her<br />
parents are Allan and Karen Till,<br />
<strong>Swiss</strong> <strong>Valley</strong> <strong>Farms</strong> Members. Tiffany<br />
is a junior at Andrew Community<br />
High School. She and her<br />
family have a diversified livestock<br />
operation, where they milk 35<br />
cows, which include Aryshires, Holsteins,<br />
Brown <strong>Swiss</strong> and Jerseys.<br />
They also have a 100-head beef<br />
herd, a flock of 35 sheep, 10 goats<br />
and 49 rabbits. In addition to this,<br />
they raise chickens, ducks, turkeys<br />
and geese.<br />
Tiffany is thinking about attending<br />
Iowa State University to be an<br />
elementary school teacher with an<br />
agriculture minor. During her reign<br />
as Dairy Princess, she is educating<br />
the public on how well dairy farmers<br />
take care of their cows. She<br />
also is spreading the word on why<br />
consumers need three servings<br />
of dairy a day to receive the calcium<br />
their body requires for strong<br />
bones and weight control.<br />
Sarah Fischer,<br />
16, of Aplington, Iowa, is the 2005<br />
Iowa Milking Shorthorn Princess.<br />
She was crowned at the State Milking<br />
Shorthorn summer picnic in<br />
June.<br />
Sarah is the daughter of <strong>Swiss</strong> <strong>Valley</strong><br />
<strong>Farms</strong> members Brent and Deb<br />
Fisher of Bren-De <strong>Farms</strong>. She helps<br />
her family in their 40-cow Registered<br />
Milking Shorthorn dairy. She<br />
actively shows her family’s Milking<br />
Shorthorns in local, state and<br />
national shows. A six-year veteran<br />
of 4-H, some of her accomplishments<br />
are All-State speech, 4-H<br />
Reserve Grand Champion Milking<br />
Shorthorn at the Iowa State Fair<br />
in 2002, Grand Champion Milking<br />
Shorthorn at Grundy County in<br />
2000 – 2004, and Supreme Junior<br />
Champion at Bremer County Open<br />
in 2004. Her future plans include<br />
either studying vocal performance<br />
or dairy science at ISU or UNI. Sarah<br />
is currently trying to build her<br />
own dairy herd. She has three older<br />
brothers: Aaron, 24; Jon, 22, and<br />
Tim, 19.<br />
