Welcome to CPT Hoelscher!
CPT Hoelscher
Through the narrow halls of the TCU Military Science offices you may
have noticed an unfamiliar, smiling face in a corner office. This friendly
face belongs to the Battalion’s new Executive Office Captain Kelly Reed
Hoelscher. While “Captain H” is a fresh face in the TCU ROTC Cadre
lineup, she is hardly new to ROTC. Her experience with ROTC began as
a cadet at the Presbyterian College, Clinton, South Carolina. While
there, not only did she standout as the program’s only female cadet,
Captain H stood out with an impressive aptitude for all things ROTC.
She excelled at land navigation, physical fitness, leadership and was
even award the Wysor Saber, a highly prestigious award for which she
was the school’s first female recipient. Caption H’s most prized
memories from ROTC are those of the support and motivation she
shown by fellow cadets through even the most personal times of need.
Captain H’s ambition carried through her cadet career across to her professional career. With a degree in Economics and Business,
she branched into the Army Reserves as an Aviation Officer. As a Reservist Captain H became Airborne qualified, flew as a Medivac
Pilot as well as a D.A.R.T. [Down Aircraft Retrieval] pilot. The sky was the limit for Captain H as she continued to soar professionally
and personally. Her civilian career was as a flight attendant with American Airlines. She also worked for several years as a human
resource assistant at both Baylor and the University of Texas at Arlington before coming to TCU. Through the majority of Captain
H’s career she has been happily married to her husband of thirteen and a half years, Derek. Now, her ambitions extend to being the
best mother possible to her six-year-old son, Reed and her four year old daughter, Leigh.
As Captain H stated, “It doesn’t matter what brought you to ROTC, I just hope that people find the passion in it that I did”. Captain
Hoelscher is passionate about her family, her career and TCU ROTC. Her door is always open to discuss anything ROTC related or
just to say hello.
have on my life.”
turned on the TV. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized something bad happened. I could just feel it.”
