Tell us a bit about your furniture business?
Milkcart creates handmade furniture
influenced by mid century Danish style and
inspired by Australian interiors. Designed
and constructed by a Sydney based team of
two, each item is carefully handcrafted and
finished in our workshop, with as little impact
to the environment as possible.
Tell us about yourself and your
background?
MARNIE: Growing up, I was always
encouraged to peruse my creative
tendencies, but after school you kind of get
caught up with the pressures of making
money and getting by day to day. It wasn’t
until we moved into our current house a
couple of years ago that I realised I had a
curious love for furniture design.
RYAN: I come from a family of men who were
pretty good with their hands. From building
their own houses to actually constructing
their own cars and small aircraft, it must
have been in my blood to keep the tradition
going. My dad had me on the tools from the
age of 4, building my first bed and helping
out around the house. I have had a good
few years as a chippie and dabbled in shop
fitting which lead me to what we are doing at
MILKCART now.
