Professional Injectable and Vacc<strong>in</strong>e Fee Schedule<br />
updates, effective April 1, <strong>2011</strong><br />
Effective April 1, <strong>2011</strong>, we will implement a quarterly update to our Professional Injectable and Vacc<strong>in</strong>e Fee Schedule<br />
for all Pennsylvania and New Jersey providers and Delaware primary care physicians only.<br />
These updates reflect changes <strong>in</strong> market price (i.e., average sales price [ASP] and average wholesale price [AWP]) for<br />
vacc<strong>in</strong>es and <strong>in</strong>jectables. You will be able to view these changes start<strong>in</strong>g April 1, <strong>2011</strong>, through the NaviNet ® web portal.<br />
To do so, select Reference Material and Reports from the Plan Transactions menu, and then select Fee Schedule Inquiry.<br />

Com<strong>in</strong>g soon: The new Cl<strong>in</strong>ical Care Report<br />
In our cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g <strong>com</strong>mitment to provide better cl<strong>in</strong>ical<br />
care coord<strong>in</strong>ation for our members and physicians, we<br />
are <strong>in</strong>troduc<strong>in</strong>g the Cl<strong>in</strong>ical Care Report — an onl<strong>in</strong>e tool<br />
available through the NaviNet ® web portal that offers<br />
participat<strong>in</strong>g physicians a snapshot of their patient’s<br />
<strong>in</strong>dividual health history.<br />
In the near future, physicians may access the Cl<strong>in</strong>ical<br />
Care Report by select<strong>in</strong>g Eligibility and Benefits Inquiry<br />
from the Plan Transactions menu. To the extent a member<br />
a member does not opt out of the use of this tool, the<br />
Cl<strong>in</strong>ical Care Report provides a global view of patient’s<br />
Ameri<strong>Health</strong> claims history, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>formation on drug<br />
utilization, certa<strong>in</strong> test results, health conditions, and<br />
previous surgeries. The Cl<strong>in</strong>ical Care Report is another<br />
example of our latest efforts to leverage and expand the<br />
use of health <strong>in</strong>formation technology to improve the quality<br />
of care.<br />
We strongly support <strong>in</strong>vest<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> tools and resources<br />
that enable and assist our physicians <strong>in</strong> identify<strong>in</strong>g<br />
opportunities to provide high-quality and more efficient<br />
health care for our members.<br />

Preventive drugs covered at $0 copayment<br />
Effective October 1, 2010, under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, health <strong>in</strong>surers are required to offer<br />
preventive services to <strong>com</strong>mercial members at no cost-shar<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
As a result, three classes of drugs (<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g all strengths/dosages) that are currently covered under the Ameri<strong>Health</strong><br />
pharmacy benefit with a prescription are now considered preventive for certa<strong>in</strong> ages and genders:<br />

October 1, 2010.<br />

The Select Drug Program Formulary is a list of medications approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Adm<strong>in</strong>istration that<br />
were chosen for formulary coverage based on their medical effectiveness, safety, and value. The list changes periodically<br />
as the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee reviews the formulary to ensure its cont<strong>in</strong>ued effectiveness. The most<br />

For members enrolled <strong>in</strong> an Ameri<strong>Health</strong> prescription drug program, prior authorization and quantity limit requirements<br />
will be applied to additional drugs. The purpose of prior authorization is to ensure that drugs are medically necessary<br />
and are be<strong>in</strong>g used appropriately. Quantity limits are designed to allow a sufficient supply of medication based upon the<br />

Ameri<strong>Health</strong> New Jersey <strong>in</strong>troduces a new value<br />
network (NJ only)<br />
Ameri<strong>Health</strong> New Jersey is <strong>in</strong>troduc<strong>in</strong>g a new network<br />
called the Ameri<strong>Health</strong> New Jersey Value Network. This<br />
network will meet access and quality standards for our<br />
members while also lower<strong>in</strong>g costs. We have designed<br />
this network to be <strong>com</strong>prised of only New Jerseybased<br />
physicians, hospitals, and ancillary providers<br />
who will serve our New Jersey-based employer groups.<br />
Ameri<strong>Health</strong> New Jersey products offer<strong>in</strong>g this new<br />
network will be available beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g April 1, <strong>2011</strong>.<br />
Provid<strong>in</strong>g cost-effective health coverage is one of our<br />
ma<strong>in</strong> priorities. In these challeng<strong>in</strong>g times, Ameri<strong>Health</strong><br />
New Jersey is work<strong>in</strong>g hard to offer more affordable<br />
coverage for <strong>in</strong>dividuals who may have trouble afford<strong>in</strong>g<br />
health care. The <strong>in</strong>troduction of the Ameri<strong>Health</strong> New<br />
Jersey Value Network is our latest effort to provide<br />
cost-effective health coverage.<br />
Notification was sent to providers that did not meet<br />
the criteria for participation <strong>in</strong> the Ameri<strong>Health</strong> New<br />
Jersey Value Network. If you received this notice and<br />
are <strong>in</strong>terested <strong>in</strong> participat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the Ameri<strong>Health</strong> New<br />
Jersey Value Network, please contact your Network<br />
Coord<strong>in</strong>ator or Hospital/Ancillary Services Coord<strong>in</strong>ator.<br />
If you received notification that your current agreement<br />
meets the criteria for participation <strong>in</strong> the Ameri<strong>Health</strong> New<br />
Jersey Value Network, you do not need to do anyth<strong>in</strong>g to<br />
jo<strong>in</strong> the new network. You will automatically be considered<br />
a participat<strong>in</strong>g provider <strong>in</strong> the Ameri<strong>Health</strong> New Jersey<br />
Value Network and your contracted reimbursement rates<br />
will rema<strong>in</strong> the same.<br />
Ameri<strong>Health</strong> New Jersey Value Network members will<br />
have “Value Network” pr<strong>in</strong>ted on their ID cards. Please<br />
see the sample ID card below to assist with identification<br />
of these members.<br />

<strong>2011</strong> Quality Performance Measure program manuals<br />
now available for providers <strong>in</strong> New Jersey and Delaware<br />
Quality Performance Measure (QPM) program manuals<br />
for measurement year <strong>2011</strong> are now available for primary<br />
care providers <strong>in</strong> New Jersey and Delaware. The manuals<br />
provide an overview of the QPM program and describe <strong>in</strong><br />
detail each performance measure that is evaluated.<br />
The QPM program uses performance measures based<br />
on the <strong>Health</strong>care Effectiveness Data and Information<br />
Set (HEDIS ® ), a well established and tested set of<br />
performance measures. It is designed to support you <strong>in</strong><br />
your efforts to ensure that members receive important<br />
preventive and acute-care services and to help you<br />
identify members who have not received these services.<br />
