Working with Dennis in his business after his retirement from 35
years in Colorady School District.
Hobbies: Just enjoying life with family & friends. Exercising,
golf, lunch groups with Curves friends.

taught PE & Am. History. Sponsored Senior class
1963-64: Earned Masters degree in PE @ Univ. of MO/Columbia
1964-1998: Coached 9th grade football, basketball, track.
Athletic Director; taught PE & Health.
Retired from teaching and coaching in May 1998.
Has officiated and/or assigned officials to work football, basket
ball, track, & cross country events from 1963 to present.
Hobbies:
Spending time at our summer home in Ocean City enjoying the
beach and playing QUOITS!!

After Leaving Tarkio:
Received Masters Degree from Indiana State Univ. Secondary
Principal’s Certificate from Purdue University in 1970. Studied
conversational Spanish and Mexican culture in Yucatan, Mexico in
1996. Taught Social Science in Francesville, IN. Taught in Colorado
Springs and was middle school principal in Manitou Springs,
Co. K-12 Principal in Wiley, CO. Retired in 1991. Taught CDL
class at Lamar Community College to non-English speaking
drivers. Called out of retirement to serve 2 years as Assist. Principal,
Lamar HS. Retired again in 1997. Called to Lamar Middle
School as counselor. Retired again in 2001. Called to serve as
interim Principal, Lincoln Elementary School. Field Supervisor of
student teachers for Adams State College 2006-2007. Substitute
teacher/bus driver, Lamar School District since 1994 to present.
Assistant Softball Coach, Lamar Community College, 2008 to
present.

After Leaving Tarkio:
I completed my studies at Arizona State University and graduated
with dual degrees in Math & Physics. I worked as an aeronautical
mathematician for Sperry in Research & Development of flight
control systems. I was thrilled to be part of the team that worked on
the top secret (X-20 Dyna-Soar) project.
I met my future husband at ASU and some years later we began many
transfers with his career – from Phoenix to El Paso, KC, Denver,
Miami, Dallas and finally to Louisville. We decided no more transfers
were in our plans, so we purchased an existing printing company and
became entrepreneurs in 1990. We sold the business in 2001 and Bob
retired,while I continued to work for the buyout company for 4 more
years. I retired in 2005 – now working part time as a receptionist.
Hobbies: Golf, oil painting, reading, traveling, walking,
volunteer work and sharing time with family and friends.

After Leaving Tarkio:
I started my career in the accounting field in the telephone
industry. Accounting relocations and job changes took me to 3
Iowa cities, London, KY, 2 more Iowa cities, to St Paul, MN, to
St. Louis, to Bakersfield, CA and then to KC area. I have since
retired and am now spending my time in Creston, Iowa. I have a
few clients that I prepare Federal and State Tax returns, so I keep
busy as April approaches.
Hobbies: We enjoy vacationing and especially taking
cruises. We annually take a trip to Estes Park, CO and it is one
of our favorites. Our sons live in MO, KS, CO and Florida, so
trips to those locations are always on our agenda.

Wife - Married JoAnn Postlewait (x61) of Tarkio and became single
in 1979 with child custody of 5 children
Married – Margaret Yeager in 1996.
Grandchildren – 10 Grandchildren with twins “ in the oven”
After Leaving Tarkio:
I worked for my father in farming and the farm machinery business.
Then was employeed as a bank examiner in 1965. I attended Wisconsin
Graduate School of Banking in Madison and received a Graduate
Degree in Banking in 1978.
We moved to Gorham, IL in 1973 then to Cambria, IL in 1975. I was
supervisory examiner over the Carbondale district. We then moved
to Ft Branch, IN in 1983 and worked out of the Evansville office until
retirement. I moved back to Marissa in 1995 as an empty-nester and
met and married Margaret.
Hobbies: Antique cars, trucks and farm equipment
surfing the internet.
Additional Information: JoAnn remarried 30 years ago and had 3
more children.

After Leaving Tarkio:
In January 1961 prior to graduating, I left Tarkio and joined the Marine Corps.
I went to Boot Camp and then Electronics School here in San Diego, where
I met Cheryl at church outside the Marine Corps Base. I was an enlisted
man for 8+ years and Commissioned in May 1969 upon completion of my
BSEE from the University of New Mexico. I spent two tours in the far east in
1963 and 1971 and most of my career on the east coast at Camp Le Jeune, NC;
Quantico, VA; and HQMC in Arlington, VA. I retired as a Captain with
20+ years in July 1981 and returned to San Diego. While still serving in the
Corps, I had received an MA in Counseling from Pepperdine University and
after further post graduate work and internships in 1986 I became licensed
as a Marriage, Family and Child Therpist in CA. I had a private practice for a
short period and have worked with many community based organizations in
San Diego County. In 1993 I began working on the San Diego Suicide and
Mental Health Emergency Phone Hotline. I retired this July 2nd and now
work on-call once a week or so as needed. Cheryl is an Oncology Certified
Nurse with an MS in Nursing Education and is still working full time at the
UCSD Cancer Center. We built the home we live in here in San Diego in
1981-82 and we love our city and our home. We welcome visitors.We
recently took a 16 day land/cruise vacation to Alaska and are anticipating the
birth of our daughter’s baby with great joy.
Hobbies:
I have a stamp collection and several sets of model trains, but most of my
hobby time is spent on PC(USA) business. I was a commissioner to GA in
2001 and have been very active in the Synod of So CA and Hawaii for the
past 8 years. I have been a commissioner to San Diego Presbytery for many
years and have served actively on various committees of Presbytery for 24
consecutive years.

After Leaving Tarkio:
I went to the Navy Electronics School in Tennessee. I was a
aircrew member in the Navy Air Reserves for 6 years. I was a
flight instructor for 5 years in general aviation and then I taught
for Japan Airlines for 5 years in Napa, California. Then I
worked for Swift Airlines out of San Luis Obispo, CA for 5
years. Next, I worked for 18 years as a Captain for Evergreen
International Airlines flying DC 9’s. I have flown to all 50 states,
Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico and have 27,500 total flying
hours. I retired from Evergreen at age 60 and continued to fly for
private corporations until December 2009.
Hobbies:
Hunting, Fishing and Restoring Old Cars.

Name: George Creighton

Son – Curtis (married and teaches at Purdue Univ. Calumet
Campus - 4 children)
Daughter –Laura (married and lived in Rhode Island,
while teaching at Rhode Island College. They have since
moved to Denver.)
After Leaving Tarkio:
I was in education for 35 years. Part of those years teaching in Shawnee
Mission, KS and part of the time (last 20 years) working in Olathe,
KS. In between these 2 jobs I taught 4 years in a private boarding
school in Concord, MASS. I retired in 1996 after teaching biology
and working the last 10 years as the district science coordinator.
Our summers were spent working as a naturalist of the National
Park Service. We spent 9 summers in Acadia National Park in Maine,
5 summers in Bryce Canyon and 2 summers doing a research project
in Pecos National Monument in NM. With the national parks as an
influencing factor, all 3 of our children have degrees in science.
We moved from KS in 2000 (after living there for 36 years) to Bella
Vista, Arkansas. We spend 6 months here and 6 months at our place in
Colorado, so we get to enjoy a wide variety of scenery.
Hobbies:
birding (a hobby since 4th grade), hiking, back packing, reading,
golf, doing stain glass projects and puttering in my garage.

Name: Ted Sparr

Favorite Tarkio Memory:
Being on a bowling team. Working for the maintenance department
and cleaning mountains of snow.
After Leaving Tarkio:
Immediately after graduating I went to Basic Training at Fort Riley,
Kansas, then spent 6 months active duty at Fort Ord, California and
spend 6 years in the National Guard. I went to work in C.O. Dutton’s
insurance, accounting and income tax office in 1961. I bought the
office in 1969 and owned it until I retired after suffering a massive
stroke in 1999.
Hobbies:
Painting, hard jigsaw puzzles, Western Movies, following
College Football and Red Oak High School Volleyball.

After Leaving Tarkio:
After graduation from Tarkio I spent four years in med school
at the University of Iowa and then a year interning at Wayne Co.
Hospital in Detroit. At that point I was drafted intothe Army
and spent two years at madigan Army Hospital at Fort Lewis
Washington taking care of Vietnam casualties. We moved to
Rochester, MN to start a four year orthopedic surgery residency
at the Mayo Clinic. We were invited to join a practice in
Lakewood, Washington in 1971.
I have served many years as a team physician for Pacific
Lutheran University and local high schools, and volunteered at
Washington State Hospital for 30 years. I also volunteer with the
Caring for Kids program.
I’m working about 20 hours per week having flunked retirement
twice.
Hobbies: Hanging out with family as most of them live within
30 minutes from our home.

Name: Dan Kelly

Wife: Beth has 2 children & 3 grandchildren (ages from 4 years
old to new born.)
I have 2 children and 5 grandchildren (ages from 10 to 2)
After Leaving Tarkio:
I attended medical school at the University of Missouri in
Columbia, MO. Following graduation from med school, I spent
a year at the U.S. National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda,
Maryland. I then completed training at the US Naval School of
Submarine Medicine in Groton, Connecticut.
After a tour of sea duty, I returned to the School of Submarine
Medicine as an instructor until 1969. Then I began a pediatric
residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Upon
completion we moved to Topeka, KS, where I practiced pediatrics
until 2004. I have since retired.
Hobbies:
Biking, dancing, painting, vacationing, and most importantly
spoiling my wife, Beth and our seven grandchildren

Grandchildren: (7) 6 girls and 1 grandson
Marilyn (Ross ‘61) graduated from Univ. of Nebraska and
taught kindergarten and 3rd grade for 34 years giving us a total
of 75 years in education.
After Leaving Tarkio:
I have been in the education field for 45 years. I was a teacher
and coach for 4 years. I have been a school administrator for
41 years including 34 years as Superintendent at the Winside
Public School, Winside, NE. I retired in 2000 for 5 years and
went back half time for 5 years. On June 30, 2010 I will be
retiring again for the LAST time.
Marilyn and I will be celebrating our 59th Wedding Anniversary
in August.

Sneaking out of Marshall Hall (in order to be part of the “in crowd”)
and getting called in by Ms. Parrish - the Gestapo-because my partner
in crime blabbed about it :o)

After Leaving Tarkio:
I taught English in Glenwood, Iowa and Millard, Nebraska. A job
change for Bud resulted in a transfer to California and after enjoying
the sun and culture for a couple of years, I started graduate school
at Cal State-Fullerton. Soon after I started classes, we were told we
would be transferred again to Ohio, and I finished my graduate degree
at Bowling Green State University. I was a guidance counselor at
Sylvania High School (Ohio) for 3 years. Another job change for
Bud took us to Chicago, and I was fortunate to obtain a counseling
position at Naperville Central High School where I finished out my
35 years in education, I still continue to be involved with the high
school, filling in for extended faculty leaves, supervising the AP
exams and working summer hours.
Hobbies: Family, socializing with friends, travel, cruises, golf,
reading , bridge, coffee groups, walking & exercising, lunches with
friends. My friends also say I run the “Rayma-da Inn”, since I have
so many visitors to the Chicago area.
