3. The course evaluation, text and closing sessions 3.3 Test of knowledge Participants completed a test designed to assess the levels of knowledge gained on content raised in the lecture sessions. The test also aimed to assess the extent to which materials were understood by students. All students passed the test, the majority performing well. 3.2 Course evaluation Participants completed a course evaluation form at the end of training. A total of 22 of the 27 participants completed the evaluation forms. This was designed to collect feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of the training programme for future planning. All of those completing the evaluation, - All (100% ) found the course relevant to their work - Three quarters (77%) noted that the course is very useful - About two thirds (68%) reported that the trainers were good and - Over half (55%) rated the course materials as good and a further 41% reported that the materials were very good. Delegates were keen that materials be updated yearly in each course. Generally lectures were understood, with some gaps in understanding (See Table 1). Some sessions were less well understood than others. Sessions that were less well understood included - Nutrition and food security - Zimbabwe’s health services - Human resources for health - Health care financing - Financing of HIV and AIDS In the discussion that was held with the participants it was noted that more time was needed for some sessions. On average sessions were rated as relevant and useful and hand outs as clear and useful (See Tables 2 and 3). Sessions rated as most useful were - Introduction to epidemiology - Epidemiology of AIDS - Management of AIDS - Epidemiology of TB and malaria Improvements were called for in the handout on Nutrition and food security for the future course. 9
