in-depth programme<br />
providing you with the skills<br />

Electrical Engineer.<br />

What is Mechanical<br />
<strong>Engineering</strong>?<br />
Mechanical Engineers are responsible for<br />
the maintenance of machinery and<br />
equipment at CES. <strong>As</strong> an <strong>Engineering</strong><br />
<strong>Apprentice</strong> you would be involved in the<br />
maintenance of the plant to ensure that it<br />
is capable of processing the steel we<br />
require at any time. The apprentice<br />
training course will allow you to gain<br />
knowledge and experience across a wide<br />
range of engineering applications to be<br />
able to perform effectively.<br />
What is Electrical<br />
<strong>Engineering</strong>?<br />
Electrical Engineers in <strong>Corus</strong> are<br />
responsible for the control and automation<br />
of heavy industrial plant to ensure that<br />
steel is produced and finished safely and<br />
efficiently. Each department on site has a<br />
dedicated team of electricians. <strong>As</strong> an<br />
Electrical <strong>Apprentice</strong> you would work<br />
around the site and day-to-day activities<br />
would include isolating sections of plant,<br />
faultfinding, overhauling and<br />
replacing/rewiring panels and motors.

Repair, maintenance, fault finding<br />
and overhaul of mobile material<br />
handling equipment and items of<br />
plant on site.<br />

Maintenance, fault finding, repair of<br />
Bloom Caster controls and systems.<br />

Maintenance, fault finding, repair of<br />
rolling equipment and controls.<br />

Training takes place in a variety of areas<br />
including workshops, production<br />
departments and site services. This is<br />
supplemented by block release to a<br />
training centre and day release to<br />
a local college of Further Education.<br />
The <strong>Corus</strong> <strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>Steel</strong>s Advanced<br />
Modern <strong>Apprentice</strong>ship is a Government<br />
approved scheme leading to Nationally<br />
Recognised Qualifications.<br />
The apprenticeship is delivered in<br />
partnership with local training providers<br />
and colleges.<br />
