5.1.12. ISSUE M SIGNS AND BANNERS<br />

To limit signs, banners and flags within the reserve to that<br />
necessary for public information and certain activities.<br />
With the approval of the Recreation Manager, to permit<br />
information signs, banners and flags, necessary to ensure<br />
visitors are aware of the range and location of facilities, rules<br />
and bylaws governing the reserve and historical and landscape<br />
interpretation.<br />
Advertising signs, banners or flags associated with temporary<br />
events will be permitted at the site of the event for the<br />
duration of the event only.<br />
No permanent advertising signs, banners or flags will be<br />
allowed except where they:<br />

o<br />
o<br />
o<br />
o<br />
comply with the <strong>District</strong> Plan or have resource consent and<br />
have the approval of the Recreation Manager; and<br />
form part of the name of the facility; or<br />
otherwise sponsor a recreational facility; and<br />
do not detract from the permitted reserve activity; and<br />
face inwardly so as not to detract from the reserve amenity.<br />
Policy D<br />
Only one sign, banner or flag intended to be seen from outside<br />
the venue will be permitted per activity. The number of<br />
banners and signs on display at the Great Lake Centre, <strong>Taupo</strong><br />
Information Centre and <strong>Taupo</strong> Museum and Art Gallery may<br />
exceed this but only with the prior approval of the Recreation<br />
Manager.<br />
