Figure 1 PORT BUOY Port buoys are used to mark the left side of a channel or the location of a danger, which must be kept on the vessel’s left side when going in the upstream direction. A port buoy must have: • a flat top, if unlighted; • a green light, if lighted. The light must conform to standards and guidelines in the Canadian Aids to Navigation System (TP 968); and • green retroreflective marerial, if material is used. UPSTREAM GREEN 17
