A Milestone in the History of Full-Range Speaker Technology!
By conducting extensive studies as well as laborious
and costly tests, we have finally managed to engineer a
driver based on Dr. Podszus' famous rigid-foam diaphragm
capable of reproducing the entire audible frequency
range with breathtaking authenticity and transparency—without
crossover network components.
We made a conscious decision in renouncing a supertweeter
as the resulting phase difference deteriorates
the holographic imaging of this unique system. Only the
lowest frequency bands are supported—by an extremely
fast ZELLATON bass driver.
Located behind a 6/1000 mm thin special aluminum film
is a multiple-composite rigid foam of a top-secret composition,
which is foamed at a precise predetermined and
monitored temperature. The minuscule bubbles, which
vary in shape, position and size, play a key role in the
unique acoustic performance. A guarantor of authenticity
and distinctiveness of ZELLATON loudspeakers, they are
barely visible in the aluminum, much like the microscopic
irregularities in a valuable precious stone. ZELLATON’s
triple-layer diaphragm design avoids the disadvantages
of other manufacturers' single-component diaphragms,
which sound muffled or hard, depending on the material
used, and lack the detailed resolution that characterizes
our systems.
STUDIO REFERENCE ONE
Each of our broadband speakers is optimized by hand in a weeks-long process until they
achieve the desired linearity and minimal partial oscillation which provide for extremely low harmonic
distortion. In so doing, we have succeeded in combining the concept of an ideal point
source with a symmetrical input signal while avoiding the phase shifts and disadvantages
of crossover network components and coaxial operation. Moreover, this also avoids
the partial oscillation and break-up as well as the resultant sound coloration of other systems,
which generate the high frequency range with superposed elements (e.g. buzz cones). The result
is a transparency and liveliness beyond description that wins over every listener.
Professionals who work in sound studios appreciate the quality of this kind of technology, as it
is indispensable in making accurate assessments of the quality of recordings.
The ZELLATON Studio Reference One loudspeaker turns musical reproduction into a live experience
and allows you to listen to music just how it was recorded!
DRIVER TECHNOLOGY
SR-1
STUDIO REFERENCE ONE
• Unique diaphragm technology by Emil
Podszus, dating back to 1935: lightweight,
torsionally stiff rigid-foam diaphragm
with ideal unit pulse response
• Painstakingly handmade in-house in Germany,
from start to finish by a third-generation
family member, Manuel Podszus
• The production process requires an extremely
sophisticated manufacturing technique
with precisely defined process parameters,
resulting in a high reject ratio.
This ensures consistently high mechanical
and visual quality
• Each diaphragm takes several weeks to
manufacture, in order to ensure optimum
cell structure integrity and maximum rigidity
paired with minimal weight. Diaphragms
hand-ground on a grinding disc
• Three-layered diaphragm, featuring
materials with varying degrees of acoustic
transmission (sandwich construction)
• All materials and adhesives used are subjected
to several months of tests for optimum
performance
• Use of extremely robust industrial adhesives
featuring outstanding long-term stability.
Adhesives and coatings are cured for
several days
• 6/1000 mm - thin aluminum film (extra-soft
alloy) with extremely balanced acoustic
characteristics (exceedingly difficult to handle
as the film can tear immediately when
processed)
• Limited Annual Production due to
extremely long manufacturing time
• ZELLATON has created an unprecedented
7” widebander mated to an 9” woofer for
a result which is out of this world
• Newly engineered Linear 7” fullrange
driver with filterless signal
path (symmetrical input)
• Full-cone 9” woofer with acousticallymatched
hard aluminum film and fast,
passive 6dB crossover network
• Proprietary spiders and surrounds
• Computer-optimized magnet systems
with a largely linear field along the entire
height of the pole plate
• High-temperature coils on titanium films
guarantee optimal unit pulse response
• Significant reduction in wobbling through
dual centering for an extremely linear
throw
• All parts are machined from a single
workpiece - a very costly process that
avoids transition resistance
• All drivers go through a break-in period
before each driver is fine-tuned for hours
until it produces an ideal frequency response
• Every single driver is subjected to multiple
control measurements and fine adjustments.
Each frequency response is
logged and documented. Documentation
of all drivers shipped guarantees yearslong
service
• Pairs matched to the smallest of tolerances.
Individual fine-tuning using flow
resistors
• No-compromise selection of Duelund
Coherent Audio and Mundorf crossover
network components
