Illing’s Enrichment students are currently
investigating topics they have selected based on
personal interest under the direction of teacher Mr.
Lee. Their research will culminate in the creation of
an original product that will be shared at the Spring
Project Showcase. Dates will be announced as soon
as they are available
motivation, Principal David Welch and Assistant
Principal Ann Fuini announced the winning entry
for the wacky stunt of choice, which will be
honored if our students demonstrate at least a 5%
gain on the tests.
Grades K-5
The Bowers Parent-Teacher Association has
sponsored family nights for each grade level this
school year. Students, along with their families and
teachers have enjoyed theme-based nights ranging
from Dr. Seuss, Winter Wonderland, Family Game
Night and most recently, Family Fitness Nights.
The Family Fitness Nights for grades four and five
involved family members trying out some of the
physical fitness tasks which students are tested on in
the Connecticut Physical Fitness Assessment.
Bennet Academy
On Friday, March 2, 2012, Bennet Academy held
its fourth annual CMT Kick-
Off and Pep Rally. Students
were entertained and
motivated by this special
CMT Rally held in the
gymnasium. The purpose of
the rally was to promote
enthusiasm and reinforce
good preparation habits for
positive performance on the
Connecticut Mastery Tests which are held during
the month of March. Hosted by our own
Illing Middle School
On Wednesday, April 18 th , there will be a Lasagna
Dinner and Book Fair at Illing Middle School from
4:30 - 7:00 p.m. Cost is $8.00 per person and
includes cheese lasagna, salad, garlic bread, dessert
and a drink. This is the fourth year this supper has
been organized to raise funds needed for the
Washington, D.C. Scholarship Fund. The Illing
community is trying to raise $10,000 to help
families challenged
with economic
hardship, so their
children can attend this
worthwhile trip.
Students are required to
complete community service to receive these funds
and we often have many Student Council members
assist us. In addition, the Book Fair provides the
opportunity for families and the public to purchase
books and media materials.
This year there will not only be the sit-down supper
with wonderful musical accompaniment, but takeout
suppers will also be available. If you have any
questions or you wish to order in advance, please
contact Sue Stepanski at (860)647-3400. Come and
join us for this worthwhile affair!
