For your own peace of mind, please do not buy a reference-level
speaker without hearing the highly innovative
Amphion Krypton 2 .

Loudspeakers and
the human hearing
The Krypton 2 houses plenty of innovation
quencies from 20 Hz to 20.000Hz, most loudspeaker
and technology: The newquencies
manufacturer use various ways to
join two or more drivers together as seamlessly
as possible.
ly developed high-quality Amphion
Integrator Titanium dome tweeter,
which is mounted in Amphion’s
Amphion’s TAPS system ensures much better
integration of the drivers, and TAPS creates
a time-coherent point source multi-driv-
large proprietary U/D/D waveguide,
the double cardioid TAPS (Time Accurate
er combination. A very low crossover of 1200
Point Source) configured mider
Hz together with precise voice-coil placement
allows the tweeter and two 8” midrange
drivers to act like one big driver, with
range and tweeter, and the solid,
powerful, extensive and adjustable
bass, reaching down to 19 Hz!
the tweeter as the acoustical center.
The U/D/D waveguide for the tweeter aligns
the voice-coils, and therefore the time difference
between midrange and tweeter is min-
A word of warning to die-hard audiophiles
– you may end up listening imized. Much better integration is achieved
to music, instead of just your system!
Loudspeakers and the human hearing
even at very close distances, so one can
choose the listening distance freely.
Achieve the performance level you pay
for
It is an undisputed fact, that the human hearing
is most sensitive between 2000 and 5000
Hz*.
Amphion loudspeakers are less dependent
on room acoustics than traditional speakers,
because they create a
In the Krypton 2 the tweeter’s
crossover point is at
tion pattern from 160 Hz
uniform cardioid radia-
A GREAT PLACE FOR A
frequency. This 1200 Hz
a smoother transition
crossover point ensures a CROSSOVER POINT? at crossover- point and
much better integration
ensures even dispersion
of the loudspeaker units and it produces a
number of other benefits. (Please refer to our
white paper: The Advantages of Waveguides
in Hi-Fi loudspeakers, presented by request at
High End 2007 in Munich).
of the sound into the room. The tweeter
waveguide and the flow controlled midrange
chambers produce dispersion patterns, which
are reduced by 20 dB behind and 5 dB to the
side of the speaker. This reduces the total reverberant
sound energy in the room, and it
allows you to place the loudspeakers closer
The natural way of producing sound - to the back or side wall.
TAPS (Time-Accurate Point Source)
The cardioid radiation principle offers great
Most real-life sounds originate from one
source, regardless of the frequency spectrum.
As one loudspeaker driver is limited in
its ability to reproduce all the different fre-
benefits in all kinds of rooms. The benefits
are especially noticeable, when the listening
room is non-symmetrical or has big windows,
concrete walls etc. This clever engineering allows
you to hear more of your favourite recordings,
and less of the listening room.
Solid BASS due to BAS
To match the speaker bass output to your
room’s properties, the Krypton 2 has a tuneable
double port.
Simply select which works better for your
room and placement - block the reflex tubes
to compensate for the boundary gain in small
rooms or placement close to the walls, or
open the reflex tubes for full bass extension
in bigger rooms.
We spent 5 years of research and development
time on getting the Krypton 2 just right.
We hope it was time well spent and you will
enjoy the fruits of our labour for a much longer
period.
