Engineering Quality Standards Manukau City Council <strong>Road</strong> Construction<br />
road reserve must comply with the Code of<br />
Practice for Working in the <strong>Road</strong>. This<br />
document has been produced by the <strong>Road</strong><br />
Controlling Authorities in the <strong>Auckland</strong> Region<br />
in conjunction with utility operators working as<br />
the <strong>Auckland</strong> Utility Operators Group<br />
(AUOG).<br />
Module 1 of the Code of Practice for Working<br />
in the <strong>Road</strong> is in three parts covering:<br />
• Site Construction,<br />
• Technical Drawing for Trench<br />
Reinstatement,<br />
• Material Specifications.<br />
The Code of Practice is available from the<br />
Manukau City Council Customer Service<br />
Centre, Ground Floor, Kotuku House,<br />
Manukau City Centre.<br />
6.B.12.2<br />
A <strong>Road</strong> Opening Notice (RON) is required for<br />
working on utilities in the road.<br />
All utility service covers and manhole covers<br />
shall be designed to support vehicular traffic<br />
loading and shall be installed flush with the<br />
finished footpath and carriageway surface.<br />
The utility owner/operator is responsible for the<br />
ongoing maintenance, replacement, protection<br />
and relocation of the utility services within the<br />
road.<br />
