A & P I – A – 3 points A & P II – A – 3 points<br />

A & P I – B – 2 points A & P II – B – 2 points<br />

A & P I – C - 1 point A & P II – C – 1 point<br />

The points for A & P I and A & P II will be awarded for the first time taken and students<br />

must achieve a C or better in the course. Revised 12/2011<br />

3. Students who meet the admission criteria will be scheduled for a meeting with the<br />

nursing faculty. The student will complete the Life Plan document, obtain the<br />

Background Check, and obtain three letters of recommendation (one of which must<br />

be from a science faculty member). These documents must be received by the Dean<br />

of Allied Health, <strong>Nursing</strong>, and Science prior to the meeting.<br />

4. During the meeting, the student will complete the written essay “Why I want to be<br />

a Nurse.<br />

5. The Admissions Points Rating criteria will be completed and discussed with the<br />

student during the meeting.<br />

6. The student will then either be sent an official letter of acceptance with the date of<br />

the mandatory orientation, or be placed on the waiting list. Not all students will<br />

advance to the nursing program following this meeting.<br />

7. Those accepted will receive an acceptance letter with the date of the mandatory<br />

orientation and documents to be completed for orientation.<br />

STEP FOUR: Orientation to the <strong>Nursing</strong> Program<br />

1. The student will complete the health requirements, obtain a Health Provider<br />

CPR card, obtain health insurance and complete any required drug tests.<br />

2. The student will attend the mandatory orientation meeting.<br />

3. All documentation will be completed and brought to the orientation.<br />

4. Acknowledgement forms will be sent to the Academic Administrative Assistant<br />

of the Allied Health, <strong>Nursing</strong>, and Science division prior to the first day of class.<br />

STEP FIVE: Enrollment into the <strong>Nursing</strong> Courses<br />

1. Upon successful completion of all requirements, the student will be enrolled in<br />

the nursing courses and given their schedule prior to class.<br />

LPN to RN Program (Advanced Placement):<br />

Licensed Practical Nurses, who have an active license and are in good professional<br />

standing, may apply for the nursing program in the same manner. They shall be placed on<br />

a separate waiting list.<br />
