Inaugurated at Hazara University<br />

University, Mansehra launched a<br />
p o w e r g e n e ra t i n g p r o j e c t<br />
harnessing the wind and solar<br />
energy. This source of new<br />
generation of power would meet<br />
the needs of an average family with<br />

Life Sciences” was recently<br />
organized by the Department of<br />
Zoology, Hazara University (HU),<br />
Mansehra, in collaboration with the<br />
<strong>Higher</strong> <strong>Education</strong> <strong>Commission</strong>.<br />
More than 450 researchers and<br />
representatives of 58 universities<br />
and research institutions shared<br />
their valuable experience,<br />
occasion, he assured the gathering<br />
that his Ministry will sponsor all<br />
such power generation projects of<br />
non-traditional nature. “The nation<br />
is passing through a critical phase<br />
due to terrible load shedding that is<br />
crippling our economy,” he said.<br />

trends in contemporary research<br />
and basic and modern techniques<br />
of conducting quality research,<br />
dissertation and scientific paper<br />
writing in biological sciences. The<br />
resource persons emphasized the<br />
importance of research and<br />
scientific paper writing in the higher<br />
education especially for the faculty<br />
interest in academic and research<br />
activities. Prof. Muhammad Sadiq<br />
briefed the gathering about this<br />
indigenous power-generating<br />
project, which could be used for<br />
meeting the needs of electric<br />
power in cities like Abbottabad and<br />
Havelian.<br />

IIU Man Gets US Fellowship<br />
M r. M u h a m m a d R i z w a n ,<br />
Assistant Director (Network),<br />
Faculty of Engineering and<br />
Technology (FET), International<br />
Islamic University (IIU),<br />
Islamabad has been awarded<br />
fellowship for MS-Technology programme in a<br />
leading university of USA. His areas of interests<br />
are Computer Networks and Technology<br />
Management. He is associated with<br />
International Islamic University since 1999. He<br />
has been actively involved in establishing FET<br />
laboratories and IT infrastructure, PEC<br />
coordination and accreditation visits and<br />
organizing various events.<br />
GIKI Gold Medalist<br />
Joins MIT PhD Programme<br />
Wardah Inam, who recently graduated<br />
from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI)<br />
of Engineering, Sciences and Technology<br />
has received a staff appointment as a<br />
Research Assistant to fund her study in<br />
Massachusetts Institute of Technology<br />
(MIT). She will join EECS Department of<br />
MIT in fall <strong>2010</strong> for the PhD programme.<br />
She bagged three gold medals, a record<br />
in the history of GIKI. Wardah Inam won<br />
the Faculty Gold Medal, Ghulam Ishaq<br />
Khan Medal and the Quaid-e-Azam<br />
Medal.<br />
