About the <strong>Center</strong><br />

The <strong>Counselor</strong> <strong>Training</strong> <strong>Center</strong> (CTC) provides<br />

confidential counseling services for ASU students, faculty,<br />

staff <strong>and</strong> the larger community. Through the center, clients<br />

receive counseling services to enhance their well-being in<br />

all areas <strong>of</strong> life: personal, career, relationships <strong>and</strong> family.<br />

The <strong>Counselor</strong>s<br />

The counselors at the CTC are graduate students working<br />

toward either a master’s degree in Counseling or doctoral<br />

degree in Counseling Psychology. They work under the<br />

close supervision <strong>of</strong> faculty members who are licensed<br />

psychologists. The counselors in training work with<br />

individuals, couples, <strong>and</strong> families to help them resolve<br />

personal, career, marital, <strong>and</strong> adjustment issues that are<br />

barriers to healthy relationships <strong>and</strong> productive lives.<br />

Services Provided<br />

The counseling provided is directly related to the concerns<br />

presented by the client, including but not limited to:<br />

Depression<br />

Anxiety<br />

Personal problems<br />

Relationships<br />

Family problems<br />

Career counseling<br />

How Services Are Provided<br />

Clients are assigned to a counselor for a semester <strong>and</strong><br />

scheduled for st<strong>and</strong>ing one-hour weekly appointments for<br />

the duration <strong>of</strong> the semester. Depending on when a client<br />

initiates services, he or she could receive up to 12 weeks<br />

<strong>of</strong> services. Clients who wish to continue counseling the<br />

following semester may request to do so.<br />
